Flexible Cost Bundles
September Flexible Cost Bundles

Summary

Period: 17th to 25th of September, 2013
Bundles: Here Be Dragons, Ninja Bashing, Pirate Hunting and Top Lane Terrors
Note: the bundles reduce their prices depending on which content you already own. In case you don’t own a champion in a skin bundle the price rises by the champion’s price.

Four bundles come this September, three offering skins plus champions and one only champions. The discounts range from good to disappointing but there are still a few good offers. Let’s see what this month brings.

This bundle offers a good selection of skins but suffers from a less than ideal discount. All of the skins are quite nice but they are 10% more expensive than in a regular sale. Besides, if you are a great fan of the champions or theme you may even own a few. All in all, it’s a good bundle but a tad more expensive than it needs to be.

Ninja Bashing

Discount: 50%

For fans of pirates this is an inescapable chance of completing their corsair collection for half the price. However, if you are only interested in the best skins then this bundle carries a few that aren’t the best they could be. Unless you want the whole theme you are better getting the skins you like individually.

Pirate Hunting

Discount: 50%
Total Price: 8874 -> 4437 RP
Skins’ Price: 4650 -> 2325 RP

On the whole, this would be a great option for fans of ninjas, kunoichis and good skins if it weren’t for its low point: Ninja Rammus. All of the other skins are great but Rammus is mostly just a re-texture. If you can stand that issue or you actually like Ninja Rammus then this is a fantastic bundle.

Top Lane Terrors

Discount: 25%
Total Price: 4065 -> 3048 RP

Aatrox

The champion bundle provides an interesting selection but with such a low discount it’s hardly the most attractive prospect. If you are not in a rush for these champions then regular sales or even IP would suffice; especially for Garen. It’s an option to help complete a champion roster but you won’t be saving much RP.

  1. Which one of this has the best value for somebody who owns wukong and fiddlesticks. I play top mid and jungle. Shyvanna would be a good jungle and I like the skin. I have wanted a wukon skin and for a support and adc I would like both lulu and vayne so it works. As for the other 2. Ninja has good champs, I would like zed and akali but I don’t care for rammus or kennen. Also shen is good but often banned. And pirate is cheaper but Tristana is free and the skins aren’t great. That being said I would like the other three and I like fiddle. Plus it’s cheaper. What would you reccomend.

    • Sorry for the late answer.

      We agree with much of what has been stated below by Ken Perry. While you own Wukong the 40% discount of Here Be Dragons doesn’t make it the most attractive bundle; especially as you would be spending RP on three champions. From what you say, you like this bundle but if you decide to buy it be aware that you could spend less by waiting for regular sales. It would hardly be a bad purchase but you’ll be paying an extra 10% for not having to wait for them.

      The ninja bundle (Pirate Hunting) may not be your best choice as you only really like two out of the five champions. Even if you like Shen you may find that you aren’t able to play him much if you usually find him to be banned. Something else to take in mind is whether you like the ninjas’ energy play-style. At any rate, Akali and Shen aren’t that expensive to unlock with IP so you could farm some IP and unlock them that way; you would only be missing on Zed.

      The pirate bundle (Ninja Bashing) could be a good option as you seem to like four of the five champions. You could perfectly unlock Tristana through the Facebook promotion, also getting Riot Girl Tristana, and save some extra RP that way; as they are flexible bundles. As Ken Perry said, if you only want one bundle this may be your best choice.

      The final bundle, Top Lane Terrors, is better avoided due to its low discount. It has a nice selection of champions but you won’t be saving much by purchasing it. Better to wait for regular sales or farm some IP. At the very least, you shouldn’t find much difficulty unlocking Garen that way.

      Hope this helps you make a good purchase.

  2. Zero might be busy so I will comment.

    If you do not own the champions already then Id stay away from the Dragon pack. The 40% off sale is less than ideal compared with 50% and this adds up if you have to buy the champions on top of the skins. Lulu, Shyvana, and Vayne are all expensive champions to buy and you might do better if you wait for a sale. Lulu has skins that are as good if not better than the Dragon one so if you wait you wont miss much. 40% off 1350 is 810 and thats not really far apart from buying a 975 skin at full price if you wanted to wait. Personally I like Bittersweet Lulu though all of her skins are great and favorites. Im not as fond of playing lulu as support as some of the other champions. She doesnt have a heal and you need a good adc that can take a punch to allow her to shine. And many adcs do not build armor or magic resistance so they cannot. Vayne is a tricky champion as adc. She has very low health but amazing movement. There are other ADCs that I like playing better though really amazing players can shine with her. Personally I like Ashe and Sivir better on a playability basis and they are cheap to buy with ip and have some good skins at reasonable prices. I like Vindicator Vayne the best of any of her skins and its a 520 rp skin so I would not suggest to you a need to reach for Dragon Vayne. I would recommend Sherwood Forest Ashe which is currently on sale before Dragon Vayne both in playability and looks. Its a mere repaint and recolor but Ashe is fun and can shine in the right hands and at 260 rp for the Green Skin you get a Robin Hood feel and a nice change of pace at a reasonable cost. Shyvana is a fun champion to play even though shes not my favorite jungler. The blue buff is less helpful to her and she doesnt have a speed boost to make jungling easier .I like playing Fiddle as much or more than Shy and you already have him. Shy does look great when she turns into a dragon and thats a fun change of pace. I like Iron Shy as much as any of them and bone is very good as well. And they are cheaper. In short, there is nothing in this bundle that really screams buy me now. You could buy any of these champions at your leisure and still find affordable and good quality skins for them that are not “much” more expensive than the sale skins. Bittersweet Lulu shines and might be a 5 star skin if you ask me.

    Im less of a fan of the Ninja champions than some. There are advantages to not having to use / build for mana but there are costs as well. The 4 ninjas in the pack all have a speed burst and enhanced movement. To me Rammus is great and a top played champion. He has the best taunt in his game and his ult is great when you taunt people to it. He has a speed boost which makes jungling easy and a shield that rocks. Outside of the fact that riot forgot to give him a joke, taunt, or laugh, hes a great champion to play. Still, Rammus skins are a bit meh and full metal Rammus is the only one Id recommend buying and its not on sale. Artic Ops Kennen is a nice skin and the other 3 are good to great and just about the best you can find for the champions in this pack. Ninjas to me are sort of Meh and I think you could find other champions you like better. The skins in this pack are top rate except for the Rammus skin and Rammus is a top rate champion. Overall, I wouldnt buy this pack just to get the nice skins. Skins dont matter if the champions are less fun and you dont play them. Most of the champions in this bundle are reasonably affordable with ip except for Zed and maybe Kennen. Id recommend playing the game and getting them for free and not rushing a purchase. Blood Moon Shen is a nice skin though.

    I am a fan of the Pirate pack. You used to could get Tristana free by liking Riot on facebook but I dont know if they do that anymore. Ive pretty much collected all the Pirate skins I could get and I like them. Surprise Party Fiddle is just awesome and the only legendary skin you can buy from under 1000 rp but honestly Fiddle me Timbers looks amazing also. Buccaneeer Tristana is good and I think Bilgerat Rumble is his best looking skin and Id grade it a bit higher than does Zero. Swain has better skins but I like the Parrot better than the birds on his other skins and its a very good skin. Katarina has a lot of good skins and Bilgewater Kat does not disappoint me. Rumble can be a bit hard to learn to play and I do not think Swain is the best mid laner but he isnt bad and hes fun and you would like him. I would recommend trying to get Tristana for free or buying her with IP and farming up enough IP to buy Kat. The skins are worth buying and I like the champions though Rumble is down on the list of favorite champions to buy and play. If you could only buy one bundle this is the one Id recommend. I think you would like Kat, Tristana, and Swain as well or better than Kennen, Zed, and Akali. Shen and Rammus are great and fun to play but Shen usually gets banned and you seem to not like Rammus. Having to not buy Fiddle and add to his skins would tip the balance for me and even then Tristana, and Kat shouldnt be hard to get which might save you cash as well. Rumble is fun but his ult is hard to locate and needs practice but a good rumble player really can shine. Swain isnt my favorite mid laner but I play him a fair bit and I really like the parrot. Tyrant Swain is a better skin but it costs a lot and the difference between the skins is small because the Red Parrot just pops off the screen and looks awesome.

    Hope this helps, and please let us know if it does.
