Overview
A new season starts, which proves a valid excuse to start a sale and offer lots of discounted stuff. Not that anyone is going to complain if the discounts are good enough so, let’s see what we’ve got. Challenger Ahri returns to the store along a 50% discount during the 14th and 15th. If you, somehow, have missed her before then this is another chance to catch her. She’ll be available until the 28th but the discount is only for the first two days. Challenger Nidalee is also released but you may want to wait on getting her as she could end up being discounted in the future like Ahri. It’s only a possibility but, who really knows these days?
There are also other discounts not related to skins. There’s a two-for-one sale on rune pages, whether you pay with IP or RP, as well as a 50% discount on IP and XP boosts. For those with an identity crisis the Summoner Name Change sale reduces the price to 650 RP; a 50% off too. In addition to these there’re five champion bundles, a bundle for each position. The discount is a frugal 25% so, unless you just can’t wait, you’re better off relying on regular sales or accruing IP. Finally, there’s an assortment of skins bundles encompassing a full team of skins. Onward to that, then.
Poke
Discount: 50%
Total Price: 10222 -> 5111 RP
Skins’ Price: 5998 -> 2999 RP
This is a somewhat uneven bundle because even though there aren’t bad skins, and some are even great, most of them are too expensive for what they offer. The addition of a 50% off discount helps a lot in that regard but doesn’t eliminate the concern. In the end, if you like what’s on offer this is a good opportunity to get it all at a good price. However, if you have some doubts, given how expensive most skins are, it’s better to get specifically what you like with regular sales.
Protect the Carry
Discount: 50%
Total Price: 10178 -> 5089 RP
Skins’ Price: 5774 -> 2887 RP
For the most part this is another uneven bundle. There’s isn’t much to be gained by the reduced price on Warden Nautilus but most of the rest do benefit by the discount. To a point, it can be a bundle with a few skins that are the true stars while there are other less impressive ones tacked on. If that’s not much of a problem it can be a bundle to get. However, if that’s not the case then you may end up paying more while getting stuff you won’t use.
Wombo Combo
Discount: 50%
Total Price: 9810 -> 4905 RP
Skins’ Price: 5998 -> 2999 RP
The re-models in this bundle aren’t bad but they do feel like a low point in comparison with all that is offered by the other skins. There’s a higher price along those lines as well, an effect which the discount diminishes. Regardless, if you are only interested in the best skins then the re-models may feel insufficient. Overall, there’s nothing really bad but the best skins can overshadow the others.
Pick
Discount: 50%
Total Price: 8856 -> 4428 RP
Skins’ Price: 5022 -> 2511 RP
Another bundle that has weak and a strong part. Safecracker Evelynn has the advantage of being a recent skin for the Widowmaker as she’s long overdue for an update but it’s only a re-model. Shen’s champion update could change things for the better but, currently, Warlord isn’t a highlight of the bundle. Ravenborn LeBlanc is, along iBlitzcrank and Headhunter Caitlyn. By now Ravenborn has appeared in three different bundles so this legacy skin is one that can be caught at half price; you just have to wait for the right bundle. All in all, this is a good bundle with the potential to get better due to future champion updates.
