Summary
Period: 29th of January to 11th of February (16.00 PST), 2014
Bundles: Year of the Dragon, Year of the Serpent and Year of the Horse
Note: the bundles reduce their prices depending on which content you already own. In case you don’t own a champion in a skin bundle the price rises by the champion’s price.
The Year of the Horse brings back the spirit of the dragon and the serpent; in bundle form. This sets of skins have rather modest discounts. Additionally most of the offered skins are always available and so elligible for regular sales. Therefore, this bundles struggle to present something tempting but let’s give them a quick look.
Overview
Year of the Dragon
Discount: 25%
Total Price: 3900 -> 2925 RP
Skins’ Price: 7330 -> 5497 RP
This bundle offers skins that have all been on sale at 50%, some not too long ago. Besides, it doesn’t add anything else to make the set tempting. It’s merely a collection of skins with a subtle discount. It could be an option to get both champions and skins for a bit less but with a bit of patience a lot of RP can be saved.
Year of the Serpent
Discount: 25%
Ward: Banner of the Serpent Ward
Total Price: 5632 -> 4224 RP
Skins’ Price: 9234 -> 6925 RP
This set of skins has a great quality despite the Warring Kingdoms being somewhat overpriced. The addition of a ward skin tries to make the bundle more palatable but if you are after the skins then 25% won’t be tempting enough. Considering that these skins aren’t legacy you may be better off waiting for regular sales.
Year of the Horse
Discount: 0%
Ward: Banner of the Horse Ward
Total Price: 3306 RP
Skins’ Price: 5746 RP
More than a bundle it’s more of a convenience as neither champions nor skins receive any sort of discount. The, almost, free ward skin may tip the scales for some but skins fans are advised to wait. Lunar Goddess Diana is a regular skin and so elligible for sales. Besides, it’s quite probable that next year Dragonblade Riven and Warring Kingdoms Tryndamere will be on a bundle with a 25% discount.

Hi Zero, your website has guided me (a lot) to make some hard choices on which skins to buy. Now everytime theres a sale I always check here just to see your reviews even if I´m not interested in buying anything xD
I am interested in Dragonblade Talon but 25% doesn´t feel too much of a discount, and I completely agree on the patience part. My question is, since they recently put it on sale how long do you think it´ll be on sale again but with the 50% discount?
Glad to know that you find the reviews useful.
With regards to Dragonblade Talon we have good news: he hasn’t been on sale since the beginning of January, 2013. On top of that, Dragon Fist Lee Sin was on sale not long ago which means that old Lunar Revel skins are being discounted again.
There’s no telling when exactly the other Lunar Revel skins could go on sale but from the looks of things it shouldn’t be a long wait. Although, it’ll probably be after this year’s Lunar Revel as the regular sale and bundles would compete.
Patience then, good things come to those that wait for them; though that doesn’t make it any easier.
Hi Zero, love your website for skin reviews because they have so much detail put into them. Question though, do you believe that if a skin has been put on sale for Lunar Revel (like in these bundles) are they considered having been put on a weekly sale? For example I’m hoping to get Panda Annie, but I don’t want to buy all the other skins too (because I don’t have the champs so it will be very expensive), but does her being discounted now mean that she will have to wait a long time for a 50% discount? Thanks so much
Glad that you like it, we try hard to make the reviews as useful as possible.
From what we’ve seen, skins on bundles don’t seem to be considered to have reached a regular sale. However, it’s very improbable for a skin discounted on a bundle to appear on a regular sale. Therefore, a future Panda Annie sale is possible but it’ll have to wait a bit more. Especially, as there are a few skins released before her that haven’t been on sale yet.
In all probabilities, Panda Annie will be discounted after the Lunar Revel ends and the bundle is retired from the store. While it’s possible that it’ll take a few months we shouldn’t reach the middle of the year without the Lunar Revel 2013 skins being on sale. Still, remember that it’s all speculation and stranger things have been sighted.
We’d advise to wait as the whole bundle is quite expensive due to the low discount and inclusion of champions. There’s not doubt that Lunar Revel 2013 skins are quite nice but the expense of the bundle seems to be too much. Patience is the best option even if it doesn’t make things easier.
