Introduction: Meeting Sea Depths
“The ocean has vast secrets.” “I don’t care, where’s the Warden?” The Cyborg pointed his gun at the Captain’s face while his V-shaped visor glowed as replacement for a frown. “I don’t know. Perhaps he went to seek assistance somewhere. I heard that there’s a Judicator somewhere but I don’t recall exactly…” The Captain mumbled a bit but didn’t make much sense. Whatever sounds he was making it wasn’t anything that could be interpreted in any human-known language.
That didn’t mean it didn’t make some sense. An anchor appeared from below the sea surface and held onto the Cyborg then dragged him from deck into the water; coiling around him. He didn’t flinch and quickly assessed the situation: salt water would merely stain his implants but as much machinery as he had in his body he still needed to breathe. He pointed in the direction of the anchor’s chain and shot, several times. The shots lit the dark depths and got lost as points into an ocean that swallowed light as sweets; it did have a sweet tooth it seemed.
His options were limited so he simply raised the bet: he took another gun and started shooting with both. Neither chain nor origin seemed affected by the guns but they weren’t very reliable underwater. He took them back and desperate for a gasp of air as only his humanity could he grabbed the chain and pulled and stretched and pulled again until it somehow let go of him. His strong kicks took him to the surface immediately where air seemed fresher than it ever was. There was no ship nearby and the docks were a good distance away. He could swim easily to the city but, where had that Captain gone?
