Introduction: Full Metal Hunt
“This is quite an unorthodox petition. I am well aware that you don’t accept requests but you will be generously rewarded for your services.” The Marquis tone undulated in sinuous words like a snake. His emotionless eyes were set on the Headhunter but she wasn’t the real prey. She didn’t fear him but knew that he wasn’t one to cross. Also, rewards; from what she had heard, were known to be truly magnanimous. Still with some reticence she accepted the contract: kill the Full Metal man.
She stalked like the predator she had become. Following a trace, moving in camouflage, going for the kill; this job, so to call it, didn’t differ much from her original role. Expectedly, things never turn as one hopes but at least she found that her extraneous training translated very well to hunting. A rustle of leaves? No, they are metal plates, small, many and close together. She looked at the man of metal and didn’t hesitate. She jumped and hit him squarely in the head with a kick, he staggered back. She threw her kamas, one at a time, letting each detonate with the added explosive. She closed the gap again and slashed in all directions.
Another attack wasn’t necessary. The Full Metal man had fallen motionless on the ground. She poked it with a kama before getting near: it sounded hollow. She looked inside the figure through the large opening that once was its upper body and found it completely empty. There was nothing inside, had it all been a joke? She moved to leave, annoyed when she noticed the sound behind her. There was another Full Metal man beside the one on the floor. She looked around and found herself surrounded, had it been a trap? She threw a smoke bomb and vanished towards the castle. She needed more information.
The Headhunter never left the cover of woods surrounding the castle. She witnessed, silent, an army of metal soldiers overrunning the castle. Making it collapse under their weight they crawled like ants over its walls. The Marquis emerged from the ground behind her. A glimpse was shared before they disappeared again, they both needed to escape; for now.
