Introduction: Fury Like Flames
“That was your last.” The blade strikes, the serrated edge bites away and the enemy falls in two to the ground. The poor tree had been part of the forest for a long time and had always stayed in the same place; unlike other twisted specimens. It just had the bad luck of having a branch grow at the height of a specific crocodile’s head. Knowing his temper, things weren’t looking good. The tree wasn’t aware of even a fraction of all this so the fact that a burning werewolf was caught underneath his main trunk was also of little concern. After all, it was already down so when the creature burned it to ashes and broke free from its spontaneous hug it was simply banging on the same drum again. That wasn’t the case between wolf and crocodile though; far from it.
The werewolf wasn’t reacting kindly to the unintended aggression; one that wasn’t going to be explained. Opposite, the crocodile simply didn’t like the way he was staring at him, who did he think he was? “What are you looking at? I’ll cut down the whole forest with you in it!” “Good, but you don’t need the exercise for me to smell your stench.” Evidently, if things were looking grim for the nearby trees before, now they were just witnessing the official announcement of their demise. Flames and claws flew from one side while the serrated blade answered in kind. Given the emotional state of the combatants there wasn’t much parrying and even less in the term of actual contact. Dominated by their feral instincts the brunt of the attacks landed on the poor trees and opened a clearing that came to be known as the ‘Tearing Flame’.
After a while they both fell to the ground. As far as injuries went they barely had a scratch here or there. They were quite exhausted though. Enough that the wolf didn’t mention anything about smells and the crocodile didn’t push the issue further either. They did have enough energy to stare at each other, intensely, for as long as they remained gasping for air. After a while, seeing that the destruction had been in the key of major and that neither would like to be chased by angry villagers, pitchforks, torches and annoying tomes of magic included, they subtly left. Well, as stealthily as this pair could; which certainly didn’t prevent more broken braches and some burnt ground. At least, the forest didn’t and wouldn’t have to stand another tantrum; for a while, hopefully.
