Introduction: A Light and a Cry
This is a strange place. The temple here is ruined but only foreigners and those with more arrogance than sense dare venture inside. It’s said that once, too long ago, it was the residence of a magnificent being of pure light. Wise beyond anything in this world, it would offer advice to all those it deemed worthy. It’s said that a little warrior once sought its advice. Wielding her massive hammer she travelled through grass and rock, mountains and valleys until, battlefield after battlefield, she reached the temple. Exhausted she rested for a day outside and, at dawn on the following day, climbed to the top to ask her question.
She was searching for a wonderful hero to bestow upon her marvellous battle hammer: “tell me, wise being of light, where can I find a hero worthy of wielding this legendary hammer?” The being of light wasn’t exactly one for cryptic answers but this time it simply said: “the answer lies inside of you.” The little warrior left puzzled but she could’ve sworn that the being, somehow, was smiling at her. According to legend, she never parted ways with the hammer. It’s not recorded whether she decided to keep it or was still searching for the elusive hero. What is clear is that she was unbeatable with it.
Sadly, the memory of those great days has been stained by a terrible event. It happened a long time ago but in comparison with those years of yore it’s something recent. It’s not clear what happened but a young woman was to be married in the temple, now turned into a church, but the groom never appeared. The guests left, one by one, but she remained waiting. It’s said that she never left, still waiting, her wailing can still be heard whenever the moonlight enters the church windows. For most, this is all just old wives’ tales; a few of us beg to differ. Some have seen the bride, crying under the Moon, beckoning with her tears and offering no return. These days there are no legendary heroes, only monsters remain.
