Introduction: Tech Fair

A big technological fair presents a demonstration of the most amazing advancements in science. The epitome of steam-powered ingenuity stands side by side with the pixellated excesses of modern electronics and even the questionable biological manipulations of some geneticists. It’s not exactly the place for a member of the Dragonslayer Club to find game but it’s an interesting way of spending the afternoon. The main exhibition is about to start so everyone gets a seat and an air of expectance is felt. The curtain is opened and the famed scientists arrive on stage with their creations. The show is on.

The steam-powered bird soars over the audience and mouths open in amazement. Next comes the automatic centaur. In a blinding barrage of light and colour it dazzles the auditorium with an agile trot and inhumanly precise jumps. Finally, it’s the time for the biological monstrosity. The creature appears almost feral but, surprisingly, follows the instructions of the scientist; not without some insistence. The demonstration ends and the three samples wait on stage as the scientists, in turn, make an exposition of the features and advantages as well as costs of each of their preferred technologies. The curtains are to close but there’s one little problem.

The lights go off but that causes a reaction that prompts the centaur to turn its own to full power and, following its program, start a display of power that disregards the presence of an audience. People run in terror and the Dragonslayer feels powerless without the trademark weapon of her trade; last time she leaves it at home. She did bring with herself her arm crossbow, though, but the small bolts aren’t very effective against the thick metallic armour. The steam-bird falls on the centaur and grabs its head with its talons. It rips it away but the machine, bleeding cables and sparks, keeps running around directionless. The bird tries again and so goes one arm and then the other but it’s unable to reach the legs.

The damage makes the centaur even more unstable and it bumps against walls and ceiling with chaotic movements and misdirected jumps. The Dragonslayer tries aiming at the openings in the armour, thanks to the bird, but its speed makes it a difficult tactic to follow. It has to be stopped before it escapes the room and spreads the havoc outside. Without any other option available the monster is ordered to act. The creature stands in the way of the machine with wide open maw ready to eat the whole torso of the centaur. In two further chunks it swallows the rest of the horse body; legs included. It certainly wasn’t trained to do that but it’s appetite for everything shiny was quite useful. Let’s hope there are no problems with its digestion.

  1. So being a jungle main myself, I have around equal amounts of experience with playing as hecarim and elise. Both I find very enjoyable but i only really see sense in getting 1 skin for every lane. Blood moon elise will be on sale later this month but so is arcade hecarim. I was looking at the reviews for the skins and although blood moon elise has more stars, an arcade hecarim on sale would probably equal. As a whole arcade hecarim or blood moon elise?

    • They are widely different skins and champions. However, they do have something in common: both skins aren’t very clear about their theme. Arcade Hecarim ends up as a mishmash of 80’s references more than an 8-bit homage. Whereas, Blood Moon has too subtle an Ionian style even though Elise does look good.

Additionally, as a more expensive skin Arcade has a more additions but not that many over a skin at 975 RP. Blood Moon fits the bill well enough in terms of additions but there’s room to improve. The themes are also quite different with Arcade being a bit of a transgression beyond the fourth wall while Blood Moon stays firmly put in the fantasy of the game.

Ultimately it’s a matter of personal preference. Which champion do you like or play the most? Which theme do you prefer? Which implementation seems more attractive? We think that Blood Moon offers better value but Arcade isn’t a bad skin and has some good features. Perhaps it’s better if the final choice is based on what you like so that you can better enjoy it.
