League of Legends: Pantheon Skins’ Review – StrategyZero
Nov 292012

Pantheon, the Artisan of War
Pantheon, the Artisan of War

Pantheon, the Artisan of War is a warrior from every angle, even his skins. All of them represent a combatant, whether fantastic or historical, with different equipment but the same Pantheon underneath. If you want to make a good impression when falling from the sky, take a shot at his skins’ review.

Myrmidon Pantheon
Myrmidon Pantheon Splash Art Myrmidon Pantheon Model
Category: Regular
Price: 520 RP
Concept: Pantheon dressed as a Greek myrmidon.
Model: New textures for Pantheon and his weapons.
Particles: No new particles.
Animations: No new animations.
Sounds: No new sounds.
Splash Art: The blurry and reddish battlefield behind hints at instead of showing bloodshed. Therefore, it ends up like a mishmash of red tones that suggests instead of providing a frame. Pantheon is quite well depicted with excellent shading but proportions that, at moments, seems awkward. This may be due to the low perspective that tries to make him look imposing but might make his head too small and his legs too large. Regardless, it’s a very good portrayal of Pantheon that stands in polar opposition to the unclear background.
Rating: Star clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZero
Conclusion: Myrmidon Pantheon is an interesting re-texture that provides a distinct look for the Artisan of War. In spite of being only a re-colour, the high contrast and bright hues make Pantheon quite attractive though too familiar to look at. To be fair, not much can be said as it’s quite simple yet striking. As far as re-textures go, it does enough with very little but it could’ve certainly been more.

Ruthless Pantheon
Ruthless Pantheon Splash Art Ruthless Pantheon Model
Category: Legacy
Price: 520 RP
Concept: Pantheon styled as a fantasy warrior.
Model: Minor model changes for Pantheon.
Particles: No new particles.
Animations: No new animations.
Sounds: No new sounds.
Splash Art: The monochromatic background only reveals a rocky area and a few clouds on the sky which seem to mirror the ground. It provides a frame but nothing else. Pantheon is depicted with dark saturated colours which allow the detailed shield to display all its dents but also makes his skin look like wax. The clothes don’t fare much better nor does the spear look particularly interesting. In fact, he doesn’t represent the in-game look well. Another noticeable problem is that the proportions and perspective don’t work. For instance, his small head sinks in his body, his limbs appear too short and his body goes from too wide to too narrow. In the end, this piece manages to give an idea of how Pantheon looks but only in a general sense.
Rating: Star clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZero
Conclusion: Ruthless Pantheon is a clear He-Man homage that doesn’t look bad nor that good either. The weaponry and helmet are what distance him from the source as both armour and clothes are practically borrowed from He-Man himself. However, the combination of Spartan and He-Man styles brings inconsistent visuals as they don’t mesh that well. Overall, it’s a classic fantasy take on Pantheon and while it doesn’t stand out it’s hardly a bad choice.

Perseus Pantheon
Perseus Pantheon Splash Art Perseus Pantheon Model
Category: Legacy
Price: 750 RP
Concept: Pantheon as a heavy-armed tribute to Perseus.
Model: Moderate model changes for Pantheon and new model for his weapons.
Particles: No new particles.
Animations: No new animations.
Sounds: No new sounds.
Splash Art: The background is little more than some rocks and a stone tile floor that could indicate a cave. At large, it’s an unclear setting that seems to be consumed by darkness. Pantheon has his own share of problems, as well: the use of light in his depiction is good but the shading, in general, is lacklustre; to the point where his armour looks like skin. Furthermore, there are obvious problems with proportions: one foot is huge, the other invisible, his legs are short, his body is deformed, his head a bit small and his arms not long enough. Overall, this is a disappointing splash art that has an interesting concept but an execution that falters.
Rating: Star clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZero
Conclusion: Perseus Pantheon is a peculiar skin as the Greek hero was supposed to slay the Medusa with a sword and a shield; along magical helm, sandals and knapsack for the eventual escape. Therefore, the armour and trident are an odd choice, in particular the trident as it’s the symbol of Poseidon; who may have something to do with Medusa’s aspect. Nonetheless, the helmet looks good, the sandals passable but the armour plain on the back and unattractive on the front. Fortunately, the shield is nicely designed with a Cassiopeia pattern. All things considered, it’s a skin with an interesting concept but an execution that could’ve been better

Full Metal Pantheon
Full Metal Pantheon Splash Art Full Metal Pantheon Model
Category: Regular
Price: 975 RP
Concept: Pantheon as warrior made of metal.
Model: New model for Pantheon and his weapons.
Particles: No new particles.
Animations: No new animations.
Sounds: No new sounds.
Splash Art: This piece doesn’t show much background and, to be fair, doesn’t need to. Still, the strokes of colours that try to frame Pantheon are inadequate at trying to provide a setting. Therefore, all that can be said is that Pantheon is under the rain, somewhere. At least, Pantheon’s depiction is superb: the design of the metal plates that make his body is carefully done with great attention to detail and admirable shading. His body looks a bit dark, like his left arm but in general it’s an excellent portrayal. Unfortunately, his red cape and rags look coarsely drawn; which is puzzling. All things considered, it’s a great depiction of Pantheon that stands surrounded by lesser quality art.
Rating: Star clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZero
Conclusion: Full Metal Pantheon aims to turn Pantheon into a warrior made of metal. Sadly, he seems to be wearing a suit of armour with an air akin to the Tin Woodman. In fact, the concept is attractive and has great potential but the particular design chosen makes him look weak and messily crafted; as if he was patched in several places with suboptimal parts. On the whole, it’s a skin with a lot of potential but the execution pales in comparison with the great expectations set by the splash art.

Glaive Warrior Pantheon
Glaive Warrior Pantheon Splash Art Glaive Warrior Pantheon Model
Category: Regular
Price: 975 RP
Concept: Pantheon in the image of a Dacian knight.
Model: New model for Pantheon and his weapons.
Particles: New particles for Heartseeker Strike.
Animations: New animation for Spear Shot.
Sounds: No new sounds.
Splash Art: Blurry backgrounds aren’t always inappropriate but in this case the lack of clarity simply can’t be attributed to dust or speed. The background suggests a battlefield, near or in a city, but it’s too diffuse to clearly distinguish anything. This low quality creeps on Pantheon and blurs his right leg, as well as making his cape a bit rough and his body drab. Luckily, he rises with good depictions of his helmet, shield and spear. Regardless, it’s a piece that provides an interesting composition but not enough quality to effectively back it up.
Rating: Star clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZero
Conclusion: Glaive Warrior Pantheon is an interesting skin with an attractive yet classic look but an uneven execution. The armour looks rather simple and the clothes underneath are just plain, yet the helmet and cape are attractive and suitable. Additionally, the shield and glaive look rather good with complex designs but muddy colours. Actually, the general subdued colour palette stands in stark contrast to the bright classic particles for Aegis Protection and Grand Skyfall; which makes the particles look inconsistent. Furthermore, the glaive has a strange design that makes the blade and dragon head have opposite directions. As Pantheon wields the glaive so that the dragon head is vertical, the blade looks upside-down. In the end, Glaive Warrior Pantheon is a skin that suffers from an irregular implementation but ends up being appealing.

Dragonslayer Pantheon
Dragonslayer Pantheon Splash Art Dragonslayer Pantheon Model
Category: Regular
Price: 1350 RP
Concept: Pantheon as a dragon-knight.
Model: New model for Pantheon and his weapons.
Particles: New particles for his abilities and auto-attack.
Animations: New animations for Grand Skyfall and recall.
Sounds: New sounds for his abilities, auto-attack and recall.
Splash Art: He’s here, he lands on the ground scarring its surface with his weight. The night seems empty except for the light he produces. At least, there’s something to see. Flying rocks aside, there’s no setting to speak of and so the background marks its absence. Fortunately, Pantheon’s portrayal surely catches the eye. It’s magnificent use of colour, light and great details make every element worth staring at. Sadly, the pose doesn’t allow a full view of his armour or weapons plus the torso and cape, near the spear’s blade, look peculiarly dull. Nonetheless, this may be one of the best portrayals available in the whole of League of Legends; despite being a clearly straightforward piece. It certainly puts the bar quite high for the model to deliver.
Rating: Star clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZero
Conclusion: Considering the impressive splash art the three-dimensional model feels underwhelming. Not only does the colour palette look dull but it doesn’t even match the one presented by the splash art. In fact, the armour and weapon designs are quite different; though the latter aren’t well depicted in the splash art. Taken for what the skin actually is, we have a moderately armoured Pantheon with dragon-based gear. For a task like dragon-slaying the unprotected torso and feet are surprising; even though we could always say that it’s Pantheon’s style. The design is surely appealing and elaborate yet hardly original. The particles add some extra glow to his abilities but only the visuals of Heartseeker Strike and Grand Skyfall really stand out. Besides, the new sounds are hardly noticeable. In the end, it feels like an obviously stylized version of a warrior. Nevertheless, it’s appealing as long as you take it for what it truly is. Fans of Pantheon will find it an interesting and expensive addition to his wardrobe but most people will have to make an effort to ignore the splash art’s promise. If you like it, consider catching it at a sale.

Slayer Pantheon
Slayer Pantheon Splash Art Slayer Pantheon Model
Category: Legacy
Price: 975 RP
Concept: Pantheon as a zombie-hunter.
Model: New model for Pantheon and his weapons plus new sign-post for his recall.
Particles: New particles for his abilities and recall.
Animations: New recall animation.
Sounds: New sounds for his abilities, auto-attack and recall.
Splash Art: In the distance, explosions destroy what the zombies haven’t. The red fumes cover most of what remains but one can guess that there isn’t much to see. At least that’s the idea, because the background is notable for its poor quality with regards to the simple and dull depiction of the setting. The foreground is, fortunately, the complete opposite. Here we find the zombie slayers enjoying their job against the hordes of the undead. The stains on their clothes and bodies show that they like the get quite involved in the activity. However, they are being flanked by an unusual enemy. In this area, the context is not only clearer but also more meaningful. While the zombie horde is suggested more than shown their presence is clear. The only exception to the emptiness of the background is the presence of a certain legendary undead that has his flames ready to join the battle; if he can stagger there on time. The vertical stripe on the left of Jinx and Pantheon’s splash art also catches the eye but isn’t as evocative.
Without a doubt the portrayal of the champions at combat is the central part of the piece. Their portrayal exhibits a magnificent use of colour and light that manages an attractive display. Their combat poses don’t compete with the need to allow a clear view and their expressions are reminiscent of their joy. Even the regular zombie on the corner of the foreground displays quite a bit of detail. Each surface and texture is meticulously drawn and shaded with the correct use of depth of field effects; which adds to the portrayal. It’s only when certain elements move towards the background, like Pantheon’s jetpack, that they become sketchy. For the most part, each champion has their place and their personality is eloquently presented. So, between Jinx’s dementia, Pantheon’s blood lust, Nunu’s derangement and Willump’s ferocity there’s much to appreciate.
Ultimately, it is an uneven splash art. The background, though clearly secondary in importance, is plain and uninteresting. In stark contrast, the foreground takes the reins of the whole piece and presents a battle for survival that shows the best that each champion has to offer. In consequence, this is a great portrayal backed by a disappointingly presented setting.
Rating: Star clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZero
Conclusion: Equal parts zombie outbreak survivor and self-made warrior Slayer Pantheon is a unique yet suitable idea for the Artisan of War. His love of battle combines well with the requirements of zombie destruction just as the aggressive aesthetic fits a true warrior. The makeshift approach to his weaponry matches his determined personality while managing to explain his reliance on melee: he prefers to get close and personal.
None of the new particles are anything astounding. In fact, they all seem like necessary modifications to keep the visual consistency. That doesn’t mean that they aren’t appealing but what really is attractive is the sound of the chainsaw engine. Even in his ultimate it can be heard, revving up, as a complement to his jetpack. It’s only Grand Skyfall that explains said jetpack, quite an addition, but it’s a nice little touch. It can seem preposterous but it also justifies his leaps satisfactorily; given the presented fantasy. The recall is a clear statement about his reason for existing so it’s a good way of rounding the theme.
All in all, Slayer Pantheon isn’t an impressive skin but it’s certainly a pleasing one. It’s sensibly made and with some attractive additions that are well thought. Perhaps it’s not the groundbreaking destroyer of zombies that he should be but Slayer Pantheon is a great choice for a more modern urban version of the Artisan.

Baker Pantheon
 Splash Art Baker Pantheon Model
Category: Regular
Price: 975 RP
Concept: Pantheon as the baker he always wanted to be.
Model: New model for Pantheon and his weapons.
Particles: New butter particles for his abilities.
Animations: New recall animation.
Sounds: New sounds for Aegis of Zeonia and recall.
Splash Art: With regards to a setting there isn’t much to speak of as there’s only a very blurry image of Master Chef Tahm Kench overlooking the meeting. There’s a paper lamp at the top and a table layered with all kind of delicacies. Still, the actual place is unidentifiable. Because of the multitude of utensils at the forefront a kitchen seems reasonable enough but the context eludes definition. There’s the possibility of a reunion of friends or a culinary competition but nothing concrete. The table also seems rather rustic, even like a slab of stone if the area near Olaf’s left hand is of any consequence. The food on display is also of uneven quality. The sausages and bread can look photorealistic and almost smell delicious while the crab pincer and the steak appear sketchy and unconvincing; other examples abound. The sashimi and its ingredients stand in the middle: cartoony but believable.
For the most part the cooks share the available space equitably. They are only visible from the waist up but they usually manage to transmit their speciality. Lines are clean and colours have different tones though they turn waxy when moving from left to right. Whereas Akali’s shading is sharp, Pantheon shows sketchy signs which Leona emphasises and Olaf only confirms. Additionally, there isn’t as good a connection between the cooks as there could be despite their proximity. Akali seems distracted, perhaps by the subtlety of a certain meat tenderiser, or maybe she’s simply staring vacantly into space; though that doesn’t seem to affect her concentration while chopping away. What she’s actually chopping isn’t clear but the result seems grated. Pantheon, with unexpectedly large rolling pin behind, is solely focused on admiring his masterpiece while Leona, escaping the encroaching fog, inspects the quality of the sausage’s grilling with satisfaction; as would be expected. Olaf pours all of his skill in making sure that the steak is tender and nice; a lesson the poor meat will have to learn. In other words, everybody is dedicated to their own activities so they could perfectly be on their own and each portrayal would be unmodified in the least.
All in all, this is a piece that crams as many champions as possible, a full team actually, into as little room as it can. While that means that some sacrifices need to be made it isn’t the main responsible for the uninvolved portrayal of cooks. Each one is solely interested in their own work and there’s no interaction between them. Given that the setting is as basic as it could be the splash art feels too straightforward and, ultimately, disappointingly simple. When all is said and done, it works as a shared spotlight for the cooks but it does nothing to make the presentation captivating.
Rating: Star clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZero
Conclusion: It’s said that with patience and effort any dream can come true and this time the Artisan of War can turn his skill to the craft he likes the most. Beyond being a joke Baker Pantheon is also a sort of realisation for the champion. Regardless, the funny side is present and not dissimulated either. While exaggerations abound there’s also a pervading cartoony feel that makes the whole aesthetic pleasing and keeps the limits in check.
With regards to the new model, it’s well done but there are missed opportunities. The shoes and trousers say nothing with their sober look. However, the shirt, hat and mittens are eloquent enough. The red napkin around the neck adds a bit of style while the helmet keeps the warrior pretence underneath the craftsman. The rolling pin mystically held to his back is unnecessary and pointless.
The weapons are interesting but perhaps questionable; the spear mostly. The large bun-shield is an acceptable stretch that is well explained by the recall; smoothing the edges and rounding the theme. One can only wonder what kind of super-yeast Pantheon uses. The butter-covered spear shaped like a knife seems the tool of someone eating more than cooking. It fits but doesn’t develop the baker idea further. Actually, a sharp baguette would’ve been a better option that suits the cartoon feel of the skin.
With that in mind, the butter particles added for his basic abilities are easily explained. The feel that from cook he has moved to eat prevails and doesn’t match the baker style. Regardless, the abilities look good even if the result doesn’t develop the theme, again. Both Aegis of Zeonia and Grand Skyfall receive some brief puffs of smoke when landing that stress the cartoon aesthetic. They are nice but they would fit in many other skins; style permitting.
The new Aegis Protection is a direct but clear reflection of the concept. Perhaps there’s nothing surprising about orbiting pastries but they communicate the theme. The new sound for Aegis of Zeonia puts the bun-shield at the forefront; though the auto-attacks receive no change at all, it works still. The recall is a fine explanation and demonstration of the state of things for Pantheon. He finally gets to do what he wants to so it’s mission accomplished for him: marrying both his passions.
The end result is appealing but doesn’t accomplish the idea as well as it could. The new model is effective and the weapons a mixed bag. The bun-shield is good but the spear isn’t really related to cooking. The particles and new sound add to the consistency of the skin but aren’t noteworthy. The recall rounds it all quite nicely and is a good example for its relevance. For that, Baker Pantheon is an uneven skin that refuses to be unappealing. It’s has a special charm, especially if you are a fan of the Artisan of War. That probably makes the missed opportunities even more disappointing.

Conclusion

Pantheon’s skins are firmly centred on warriors and among the multiple references some skins work better than others. Glaive Warrior Pantheon is the recommended skin due to its traditional yet attractive Dacian design. The skin has problems but it’s a convincing representation of a battle-ready warrior.

A more modern but also attractive option is Slayer Pantheon. While it doesn’t strike as a wonderful skin it’s quite well done and the theme is finely developed. The chainsaw sounds stand out and provide good backup for the visuals. More could’ve been done with the skin but, as it stands, it’s an appealing, contemporary option for the Artisan.

Perseus Pantheon is an interesting Greek-inspired alternative as long as historical accuracy isn’t an issue. Whereas, Ruthless Pantheon stands as the best of the cheaper options; especially for He-Man fans. However, Full Metal Pantheon and Myrmidon Pantheon are lacklustre in their execution and hardly the best choices available.

Lastly, Dragonslayer Pantheon is a skin that sets the sights quite high with its impressive splash art and then is unable to deliver. The result is a fictionalized dragon-knight with some nice touches, especially on Grand Skyfall, but that struggles to justify its price.

Embracing his long-held dream Baker Pantheon finally puts the Artisan of War in the shoes of a baker. The model is good and presents the concept well. The bun-shield is a fine marriage between the warrior and the cook but the spear leaves the cooking behind. The particles mostly follow that path so that while the recall rounds thing up well the result is uneven. Nevertheless, there’s an irrepressible charm that the issues can’t snuff out but do affect.

  1. Hey, thanks for the great Pantheon review, I loved it. Just ashame that Full Metal Pantheon got such a low rating, since I have him and I love to play with him and his amazing splash art. But maybe its just me who thinks its attractive 😉

    Anyway, thanks again.

    • It’s nice to know that you liked it.

We agree that Full Metal Pantheon’s splash art is incredible but the in-game model is leagues away. The concept is great but the execution is sadly lacking: it seems as if he looks brand new in the splash art but used and patched up in-game.

Maybe when Pantheon gets a visual upgrade Full Metal Pantheon will be reborn as he deserves.

  2. dragon something pantheon first impressions? 😀

    • Seems good, it’s Pantheon wearing light dragon-styled armour; traditional but acceptable. Some of the new particles look quite nice but we’ll have to see the price to determine how worthwhile it really is.

    • Most of it was probably repurposed while making that Braum skin…

      • That wouldn’t really be surprising nor the first time it’d happen.

        • i realised something when comparing the original panth and dragonslayer. The ult for dragonslayer takes longer to do damage because of the animation that he has. It really puts a disadvantage on the skin

          • In theory, there shouldn’t be a difference as the changes necessary to make Dragonslayer Pantheon’s Grand Skyfall look good were extended to the other skins.

In practice, there could some visual differences with the other skins but we are to assume that Grand Skyfall works the same accross all skins.

In actuality, only Riot really knows. As far as we know skins are checked not to affect the power of a champion. However, some changes sometimes do give a little advantage or disadvantage.

  3. There’s a new badass dragons slayer skin for pantheon… The splash art almost enough to make me want to jungle… Not gonna buy it until you guys do your review though…

    • We can confirm that the splash art is amazing but the actual skin is another matter. We’ll have a review as soon as possible.

      • I think dragonslayer deserves a higher rating because of its awesome new particle effects and the fact that he grows wings when he uses his ult.

        • The skin does have its striking moments but it’s also expensive. At its price we expect it to be all around impressive and not just shine sometimes. Had it developed the dragon theme more it would been a better fit for 1350 RP.

  4. looking forward to the review on DragonSlayer Pantheon 🙂
the ultimate looks so badass, too bad you will never get to see it as a pantheon player since if you’re using it, you are most likely looking at somewhere faraway 🙂

    • That’s a very good point and considering that the most attractive addition were the changes to the Grand Skyfall it leaves little else of interest.

  5. When dragon slayer pantheon will be reviewed since braum is reviewed already

  6. hey zero thanks for the review!would u say its a good buy at 975 rp?? considering the fact that the other options at 975 are glaive warrior and full metal i would think its way better for panth fans…all of that aside, would u recommend it at sale price???i got the rp just dunno if im gonna get it or not..

    • If you don’t usually buy skins on regular sales then at 975 RP Dragonslayer Pantheon is a fine skin to get. For those that prefer to wait they’ll still have to pay a bit more, even at a 50% off, but the skin is certainly better acquired at a discount. It’s not that the skin is bad but it doesn’t really feel good enough for such a high price.

Also, keep in mind that Pantheon is scheduled for a visual upgrade, like Andy mentions below, so things could change afterwards. In theory, Dragonslayer should be the best of the skins but anything’s possible. The skins could remain at the same rating, some could improve and others not.

For instance, consider that Piltover Customs Heimerdinger stayed much the same as it was only polished. Headhunter Master Yi was made worse as it lost its unique glow for Wuju Style. Conversely, Chosen Master Yi was improved as it also received new auto-attack sounds for his lightsaber.

If you want to play it safe, you should wait. On the other hand, if you really like Dragonslayer Pantheon and waiting a long time for a sale isn’t for you then now is the best time to catch it.

  7. It has been said that Pantheon needs a model update (source: http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?p=46658336#46658336 ). How soon this will come is not entirely clear, but it is on Riot’s radar.

  8. first of all it pantheon definitely wont be in high priority cuz as we all know sion urgot ryze and karthus are on the A-list.4 reworks will take a while even if they give out one per month.we also have the Fiora rework(mostly kit wise) coming up so that will delay it even more.and normally with VU’s the best skins and most polished dont change for instance if udyr gets a VU SGU wont change and u can be sure that riot wont change the model or effects of a skin they just gave out otherwise they would just fix him in the first place!Or they could put the skin back until after his VU.

    • That’s quite probable even though we can always hope that more skins receive the same treatment as Chosen Master Yi.

  9. Hey Zero, what skin would you recommend buying, im stuck between ruthless pantheon and perseus pantheon but I can only buy one skin

    thanks

    • Don’t forget that you can always lessen the impact of a purchase by waiting for a sale. They do take a while and require a lot of patience but they pay off in the long term.

With that said, in terms of features both Ruthless and Perseus are balanced: Perseus has more model changes but is also more expensive. You could take into account if you are willing to pay more for more or if you prefer to pay as little as possible. In terms of concepts you could consider whether you prefer a classic fantasy warrior or a Greek-based one.

The skins aren’t particularly complex but they are good options for their price. The more significant differences are in concept and price. So, those are the main elements to keep an eye on when making your final decision.

  10. Hey Zero,I’ve seen that Pantheon will get a VU. Will that make Myrmidion Pantheon cooler skin for its price? Also,do you think Baker Pantheon will come ever? More at: http://www.surrenderat20.net/2015/03/312-pbe-update.html#more

    • Actually, it seems to be just a texture update as the geometry seems to be identical. Pantheon would certainly benefit from a full visual upgrade but it seems that we’ll have to be content with just that.

  11. Zero, just a thing, isn’t the recall has some new sounds. It sounds like a spear something but is really noticeable. You might check it out. Just a little help from me. XD.

    • Do you mean about Dragonslayer Pantheon? We did omit to mention the new recall sounds; thanks for the notice.

      • Zero, I need your help. I want to give my friend a skin for his birthday. His favorite champion is Aatrox and Pantheon. I’m kind of confused what skin to give to him, Dragon slayer Pantheon or Mecha Aatrox? I already bought Dragon Slayer and it is worth it, but I don’t know if Mecha Aatrox is better.
Particles wise and animations and everything that makes the skin worth to buy, what is your opinion.

By the way thank you for your reviews, really helped me buy good skins. Good luck and keep helping other people on buying skins.

        • Thanks for the kind words, we’ll keep working hard to make useful reviews.

Besides, the preference for fantasy or sci-fi there’re technical differences between the skins. Dragon Slayer Pantheon offers little that is different from the usual. There are some nice particles and new wings for the ultimate but there’s nothing significant despite the high price. We’d say that Slayer Pantheon is a better option when available; during Harrowing. It’s a bit of a departure due to the zombie theme but it does more and is rather appealing.

Mecha Aatrox is a polar skin that seem just alright most of the time. The aspect is good, the particles as well but there’s nothing surprising until the ultimate comes on. During Massacre, Mecha Aatrox gets more interesting with the jets bursting fire. It’s not something groundbreaking but it’s stands out. However, Justicar Aatrox is a more interesting skin due to the concept and the execution offers a lot. Although Mecha has a slight technical advantage there’s nothing that fully justifies the increase in price.

In conclusion, we’d recommend either Slayer Pantheon or Justicar Aatrox. They seem to be the best options for each champion. A non-legacy alternative for Pantheon is Glaive Warrior which is more traditional but also a better fit for his warrior fantasy. A cheap option for Aatrox could be Sea Hunter. It’s a rather nice re-model despite being, evidently, simpler than the more expensive options.

  12. I’ll just buy Justicar Aatrox since it’s a bit cheaper and does almost anything as good as Mecha Aatrox. If Slayer Pantheon is only available I would have bought it.

    Thanks for the reply.

  13. Baker Pantheon is coming out, make a review quick

  14. I know you’re waiting for the skin to come out to make an official review of course. But do you have any quick first impressions or opinions of the Baker Pantheon skin? I was thinking of getting it on release and wanted to see your opinion of what we’ve seen so far.

    • We like the idea of the skin but the execution doesn’t always make the most of it. Baker Pantheon as a concept is quite nice but the model doesn’t fully capture the theme with a rather traditional look. Besides, the butter knife with accompanying splashes of butter shows a part of eating more than cooking. Perhaps he should’ve just wielded bread in both hands. The bun-shield works quite well overall. We find a lot of potential in the skin and yet much is unexploited.

  15. You guys really hate joke skins eh? They are some of the best skins in the game and you give them all 2 or 3 stars. Lighten up a bit.

    • We don’t hate them at all, some are quite nice. However, by their conception they lack the richness and depth of skins with concepts closer to the fantasy of the game. It’s also worth mentioning that joke skins seldom receive the level of attention and elaborate implementation as the more serious ones. That certainly affects the skins. There are cases where more than a joke the skin offers a light-hearted take on the champion that usually works better than a joke that runs dry with repetition. However, that’s not the regular approach to these funny skins.

  16. Hey Zero I enjoy reading all of your reviews! They are great! I was wondering if you think that maybe they will bring back slayer panth this month because the harrowing and stuff. I was debating wether I should get dragonslayer because itll be on sale this week, but if slayer panth is coming soon ill wait for that.

    Thanks again!

    • Glad that you like the reviews.

By the end of October, around Halloween, all previous Harrowing skins should be available again. Nothing’s fully certain but it’s the time of the year for the Harrowing skins so it’d be sensible to wait.

  17. Hey Zero,

What do yous think about the Dragonslayer Pantheon chromas on PBE?
I wonder if the skin would be worth getting with the chroma packs. Or the new Xin skin.

    • The chromas look good but while they show shades of each colour they don’t get away from the usual change of colour style that they follow. From what chromas offer we only recommend getting them during the IP sales. They add too little and can cost as much as a skin; which even the simpler ones often do more than a chroma.

The same actually applies to both Dragonslayer Panthoen and Xin Zhao and most other skins with chromas. There are some exceptions that we have noted in our chroma reviews; base and skins. Unfortunately, they are exceptions as chromas seldom play with colours and textures to change the feel of a skin.

  18. I’m fairly sure this was never noted in the review of Baker Pantheon or any of the comments but when Pantheon taunts and bash his shield he now butters the bread and this might be very insignificant but it adds more to the maybe worst element of the skin.

    • It’s not very significant but we should mention it in the review. We wouldn’t say it’s the worse as the bun-shield suits the style of the skin but the adaptation could’ve been better anyway.
