Introduction: Would-be Heroes
“This is no job for would-be heroes, boy.” “It’s no job for a big ego either.” They looked at each other but only briefly, there isn’t much time to lose when a Titan is levelling the city and a Ghost is spreading its army of crows to collect the souls. They weren’t exactly what could be called a last resort but they certainly weren’t the first choice either. As often happens in cities with many heroes, there were many villains and the main teams were simply busy. “We should think of something fast.” “Don’t worry kid, I got this.”
Surprisingly, the idea wasn’t bad: to pit one against the other. At least, they could earn some time. The problem was that they were working in unison: one sowing and the other reaping. What would happen if the current of souls were interrupted? They brought down some buildings, destruction was always easy when trying to help, and the Titan was unable to advance without clearing a bit of the rubble. That was time enough to interrupt the supply and the Ghost didn’t worry too much, simply took matters into its own spectral hands.
The scythe was a much slower and demanding method so that when the Titan was ready to resume the Ghost wasn’t aware of where the next colossal smash would fall. While that didn’t harm the Ghost in any way it certainly wasn’t polite. The Ghost looked up at the Titan and when they locked stares a blur of crows flew by and practically erased the titan from sight. “One done and one to go.” “It’s a start kid. Now, we need another good idea.” “Like what? Feed the crows some corn?” “Actually that isn’t such a bad idea.” The field outside the city hadn’t been affected by the Titan so, how about putting the nature of the birds against the ghost’s commands? Of course, not everything was going to go according to plan…
