Introduction: Memories of a Long Gone Past
This was a long time ago. You have to understand that in those times everything that gave an advantage was fair game. It was a necessity even, we had to survive, somehow, anyhow. Anyway, I’m rambling again. The enemy had designed a suit powered by some glowing chemicals that gave their soldiers incredible strength. You had to see those bastards, sorry dear, you had to see them in the night. Their suits all lit up with that ooze going through the tubes all ’round their bodies. It would’ve been a pretty nice sight but it was terror to all of us. “Like robots?” Yes, dear, something like that.
They had also delved in strange experiments and other terrible stuff. No wonder we ended with a war of apocalyptic proportions. At least now we are building a new, well organised society. If only we knew at the time. Yes, the suit. I was never a soldier myself I was with the Resistance but we knew that they would sent help. We were hiding in the jungle and we had seen the man in the lit-up suit. Poor Dave, he was always a nervous guy, he couldn’t resist and tried to run away. I still don’t know how we did it but he grabbed him, right over our heads and, well, poor Dave.
“Was Granny sad, too?” Of course, dear, he was her brother, she stood up with an expression I’ve never seen since and opened fire on the suited man. I can tell you, she was a great shot back then and she did hit him where it hurt but he seemed to heal faster than the bullets could hurt him. “Did you help Granny, Grandad?” I was standing and shooting right next to her and I couldn’t believe how the man kept advancing towards us, even as more friends opened fire on him. It was terrifying. “That’s when he appears, right?” Yes, dear, that’s when the Captain appears.
He was never a favourite of the high command and all those high officials. They even wanted to demote him but they would’ve faced the whole of the Resistance knocking at their door and giving them a piece of our mind. Out of all of those soldiers, few we could really count on and he was one of them. “Pew, bang, he beat them all!” You had to see the Captain in action. He was never one for trifles and the bigger the danger the better he was. With his trusty blowgun he blinded the fool. He let us all escape to safety while he laid his trap… slowly, carefully and with precision. “Boom!”
You can say that again, dear. “Boom!” The poor fool walked left and right and couldn’t escape the minefield the Captain had laid for him, all for his enjoyment. We thanked and cheered him. He simply waved and interred himself in the jungle, it was his home. “The Captain wins!” Yes, we won that night thanks to him. I wonder if he’s still out there, in the jungle. Yes, he probably is.
