Introduction: Round the Afterlife
“Knee and elbow, kick and punch, do a tantrum for all I care. I’ll drag your corpse to the afterlife if I have to. In soul or in flesh you are coming with me.” The Spectre stabbed the Martial Artist from side to side with his scythe and dragged the body until it disappeared; only a trail of dark blood was left behind. Beyond the world of the living a set of Inquisitors awaited to pass judgement. Their questions were simple but harsh. The Martial Artist had conditioned his body and mind like precise clockwork but before their iron masks, he hesitated.
He didn’t really understand what the result of his examination was but the Inquisitors opened a door on the left and signalled. He walked leaving them and the Spectre in a room that seemed to become smaller with every step in a corridor so thin and long it seemed to be stretching. He found a door and opened a world of sands and Sun. He walked leaving a trail behind. A temple rose quickly over the horizon and he promptly made his way there. In a few strides he had arrived; his body didn’t fail him, as always.
In a room where flames battled unsuccessfully with darkness a woman adorned in gold and accompanied by a giant cat looked at him. He stared without saying a word. With her staff she signalled a corridor to the right and he walked there. The corridor stretched and grew dark until he found himself back at the field where he had met the spectre. The Moon was bright, defying stars and lighting the world with a soft touch. He sighed, “It must’ve been some sort of delusion. I should measure my training better.” As he made his way home he noticed a long trail of dark blood that started where he had been training and ended abruptly.
