“Corsairs? Yes, they are always trouble on sea and land.” The Mermaid explained her plea to the Officer with ample detail. “They don’t care about what they throw or where they throw it. I can’t have a rain of trash on my house!” Taking all the necessary notes the Officer left after a firm: “I’ll take care of things.” The Mermaid nodded but thought: “This isn’t the first time.” Hope was on both minds as they each parted ways which would inevitably converge on the corsairs.
The nearby tavern assaulted the Officer’s nose before any corsair had the opportunity to get smart. It was a bad start when a mere smell was as aggressive as the origin. She looked around the tavern and saw the usual scoundrels. One uniform caught her eye: a red one from an elite company. She approached and they exchanged glances. “Funny to see someone like you here.” “I could say the same.” “Work.” “Same.” “Perhaps we can help each other.” “That sounds good.”
They searched the docks for the Captain the Elite was looking for. Near a huge galleon he laid on the floor while the Lieutenant barked orders left and right on deck. “Who’s in charge?” “He, when sober.” signalled the Lieutenant. “So, what are you going to do if I take this one with me?” “Thank you and help you if necessary.” “That’s generous.” “I need you to stop throwing trash on the sea. The mermaids don’t like it.” “You have the culprit down there: he ordered to empty the hold on the sea even if there were goods to sell.” “Don’t worry, he won’t be a problem anymore.” They smiled together.
