Introduction: Footprints on the Snow
“Yes, I know it’s cold but we’ll get there, have faith. When we arrive you’ll be happy we made it through the snow.” They kept walking, two figures covered in furs, leaving a trail of footprints that wasn’t discreet by any means. Who would follow them in this weather anyway? Predators, of course, they were always stalking and if their scent wasn’t enough a painted path to them was making things all too easy. They were past caring now. Their priorities lay elsewhere and there was no turning back. Not if they wanted to survive and you can’t hesitate in the taiga.
One single moment of doubt isn’t perilous, it’s an end. The predators should’ve known better than to follow what they thought was a path to a free meal, though. The avalanche swept them off into an uncertain future. The two furry figures looked down at the disaster and one even chuckled a bit. “Well, they’ve been asking for that all day, haven’t they?” They walked into the trees and, silently advanced to the centre. A pack of deer were still, staring at them. One of the figures ran towards them and joined them. “See, told you I’d take you to your family. Now, take care all of you.” She turned and walked back, slowly, leaving a trail of footprints behind.
