Introduction: Desertic Ranch
The Far West isn’t forgiving and if you don’t fight to survive someone will, sooner or later, take advantage of that. That’s why if you have a ranch with a vast arid region you should, at the very least, give it a good look; which is exactly what I did. Not exactly my thing, prefer to shoot things, but hey: you never know what you can find. I grabbed my guns and hat and set out into this personal desert with a good flask of fresh water. Something told me that it wouldn’t be as boring as it seemed but perhaps that was only wishful thinking. Not exactly as it turned out.
Initially I saw nothing but once I lost sight of the house I noticed that the air had changed. It still was dry but there was a strange smell as if an old cupboard had been opened. I kept going and stumbled on a porcelain doll only barely unburied by the gentle breeze. I kicked some sand with my boot and, by mistake honestly, hit the doll on the side. It started to rumble and, with evident effort, tried to emerge from the precarious tomb. I helped the thing and it, surprisingly, thanked me and offered to kill my enemies for me. It said, and I quote: “that’ll be fun.” I prefer to shoot my targets myself but I wasn’t to say no to such an offering and to such a singular being.
The doll followed closely and a floating ball accompanied it as well. I asked what the ball was for but it never gave a proper answer. The best I could gather was that “the Ball knows”. Funny stuff but had something else at hand so I let it be. Approaching the border of the ranch I found something else on the sand but this wasn’t buried, it couldn’t possibly be. The size of the bones was staggering and I could walk upright through the ribcage of whatever beast that was. It was quite the strange sight as it looked like it had six limbs but it was evidently not an insect. These were bones like what’s left of your herd after a bad drought but all together in one single structure.
I was amazed by the skeleton so I didn’t notice that both doll and ball were busy with another apparition. I was calmly asking the doll her opinion on the bones when her silence got on my nerves. I wasn’t going to shoot it right off but I had my hands on my hips, menacingly closer to the guns, when I turned and saw the spirit glowing before a red dusk. The man looked like a corsair and a crazy idea crossed my mind. Could it be that this desert was once part of the ocean and that this buccaneer had found its end fighting this massive beast? I couldn’t confirm it as the spectre vanished as I tried to move. I returned with the doll and the ball to the house. She turned out to be an incredibly good assistant and helps me out with everything; except one thing. I’ve asked and interrogated but no one seems to know anything about the beast and the sailor. I won’t give up so easily, if there’s a mystery to unfold I will find what’s behind it somehow.

I really enjoy the information you give on skins, but I’m interested in whether you guys would ever consider reviewing classic skins, especially since you refer to them quite a bit in your reviews. I’ve also heard a lot of comments on how the classic skins are oftentimes better than the ones you can purchase. Just a suggestion so that cheapskates can feel good about their skins too. xD Keep up the good work guys, and thanks a lot.
Glad that you like the reviews.
We have considered reviewing classic skins but the problem is that they are our frame of reference to review skins. Therefore, we would be lacking a frame to contrast the classic skins against. If we simply compared classic skins to each other then newer ones or those that received a visual upgrade would naturally stand out.
It’s not something we discard but we have to see what we would be reviewing. We could check how original the concept is and how well the fantasy is captured by the implementation. However, we would still need a reference to evaluate against. It’s a possibility but we need to work more on what the review would entail.
