Introduction: Fire & Water

“This pool party is getting out of control.” Passersby are drenched with a varied assortment of water-weapons and even the Royal Guard has finished her declaration with clothes dripping wet. The ultimatum doesn’t delay its arrival: “stop bothering people or I’ll be forced to call a fire-fighter to close this down.” She leaves wet but still dignified with a step that shows determination and fulfilment of her promise. The party-goers don’t listen to a word she utters but soon they’d wish they did.

After a few more people receive an equally wet treatment and more complaints are forwarded to the Royal Guard, support is called. The hulking crocodile enveloped in flames took some people aback at the party; others were too wasted to deem him more than an hallucination. The fire-fighter was fair in their treatment anyway: he didn’t discriminate in the use of his dissuasive weapon. Water streams evaporated in the flames around him before even touching his scales. Panic started to settle when he brandished a water rifle and started to shoot hot water at the attendants’ feet.

Considering the state of many of the pool party guests they demonstrated a surprising ability for recovery. In spite of the chemicals their systems had to cope with they were able to spring up from the floor instantaneously and run with unfamiliar agility. The pool party was evacuated in minutes and the crocodile gleefully jumped in the main pool to douse his flames and refresh after the hard work. The Royal Guard couldn’t be more satisfied and she took a small pool for herself once she was off duty. It was all peace and quiet, a relaxing time in the water; there was to be no discussion about it.
