Introduction: The Drink and the Patience

“With moderation, this is liquor worth taking one’s time to savour. When was the last time they saw a clean napkin?” “The sure have seen napkins but they weren’t clean or going to be.” He closed, patiently, his eyes and opened them but the image before his eyes was the same: an uncouth cutpurse in a grotty dump of a bar. He shook his head, cleaning the dirty words from his mind; how could he lower himself to such thoughts?
