Introduction: Placid Trip
“Yes, we will do this.” The lunatic lays a large box on the ground and a little, dark sorceress appears. She waves her wand over the incredulous guard and transforms him into a cat. “Now you’ll learn to fly.” The kick wheezes in the air but completely misses, beaten by sharp feline reflexes. The cat-guard scampers through the unending corridors of the installation. The maniac follows his nose turning at intersecting corridors and choosing doors with inscrutable logic. More than once he ended inside a cell but his magical friend always allowed him another exit. He was beginning to get motion sick with so much turning when he found the outdoors after a glowing door opened in a bathroom.
The sky was littered with blinking stars and he stared at them for a while. He then wished for bowl and spoon from the sorceress and poured a good portion of the stars into it. He sat and ate with glee the sugary meal; candy bowl and spoon included. He cleaned his mouth with a portion of empty sky and proceeded to hop away from the asylum and towards the bright city lights. The path was a bit long so he pulled the city closer and entered with a big grin. He had shaken the buildings a bit and they were just steadying themselves as they frowned at his advance.
Angry at his rude demeanour the buildings started to fall around him with people parachuting to safety as their homes bounced off the ground behind the manic jester. It actually made for a fun game to see if any of them would get him. The closest they got was a tinkle in one of his cap bells but almost didn’t count. With the city flattened after he reached the other end he turned back, triumphantly walking over the groaning and complaining antagonists. The sorceress provided a giant broom and enlarged him to match, he cleaned the city of the rubble and the people cheered him. His job done for the day he climbed onto the moon and covered himself with a clean patch of empty sky.
“The analyses are ready for the patient, doctor.” The nurse announced with an inquiring eyebrow. The doctor was peeking through the small door window into the cell and shushed her. “Not now, he seems to be having a good rest and that’s what he needs the most.” They left the door and walked back to the doctor’s office. She took a seat and offered another to the nurse. “Check on him every hour and report if any change occurs.” The nurse discussed some other matters and then attempted to leave. “Remember”, the doctor interjected, “let him sleep. He’s far less prone to delusions if he’s dreaming.”
