The sky grew dark and a cold breeze joined a handful of heavy clouds. “Looks like rain.” “Just stay the night guys. Tomorrow we can get up early and start planning our next job.” “Sounds great. I want the bed by the window.” “You always get that.” “I’m a man of habit.” They each went to bed, many rooms and much snoring but no concern for what the night was warning. Perhaps they wouldn’t have listened if directly told. Perhaps it was their time.
The following morning the house was quiet and no one answered so she had to use her key. The dining room looked just as she remembered which was odd: they usually cleaned up before plannin. The statue, luckily, that Hellenic monster wasn’t there anymore. She called for the guys but no answer came. She climbed the stairs and knocked on the bedroom doors, nothing. She lost her patience and kicked doors open. She had seen scenes of such savagery: it reminded her of her much loved explosions. However, there was no blast; just maimed bodies. There was also that horrible statue, in the corridor. Why had they taken it here?
