Introduction: Look into the Mirror
“It’s all smoke and mirrors, or is it?” The illusionist unveiled a large mirror from a cloud of smoke and proceeded to inspect the audience. “When we look into a mirror, does the mirror look into us?” She stood before the reflecting glass and an image of a lavishly dressed aristocrat appeared. It followed her every movement, more than a mere double would be able to accomplish even with extensive training. “When we look into the present, is it possible to look into the past?” She stood aside and let the mirror reflect the theatre. Then the image started to change.
The building became antique, with and old fashioned yet classy style that wasn’t remembered even by veteran fans or workers. The theathre slowly undid itself and let way to a florid forest with twinkling flowers and vibrant trees. A small tree started to move and revealed its true self: the guardian of the forest. He spun in mid air and flew around the branches until it left into the distance. “What lies beyond this magical past?” The image changed and the trees became younger until the barren land got consumed and scorched only to re-grow as lush woods. A portal opened and a creature from the Void emerged.
The creature spread viscous corruption around, dissolving fauna and flora slike, absorbing their life, transforming and twisting it into monstrous versions of their former selves. The illusionist face straightened from the smile it had moments ago and witnessed the action without a sound. The forest broke to the Void while the creature hopped around the mockery left in its place. After a while a monk appeared, she was dressed as a member of the ancient Order of the Lotus. She focused her magic and blasted at the creature. It dodged and skipped but when the whole area of ground around it erupted with magical light it was melted to nothingness.
The monk looked around and let a sigh escape before erasing the corrupted forest in light. After the terrain was clear again she turned facing right into the mirror and advanced. She got as close as seemed possible and looked around until her eyes fixed on the illusionist. With her gleaming staff the illusionist waved around the mirror and ended the act. The burst of applause resounded on the walls. She bowed and thanked the audience. She looked over the people, they were standing and clapping with enthusiasm; they had thought it was just a show but she knew how true it all had been. Before leaving her eyes stopped on a lady dressed in black and white with face and eyes she recognised easily. She just had seen her purify a whole forest and right as the lady was exiting the theatre she turned to the illusionist and smiled.
