Introduction: Dealing Mechs
“This is an offer you can’t refuse.” The man shows a smirk and an android in its box: it surely is a technical wonder. It would be better to leave out any details about how he got his hands on it and go straight to the point. “How much?” Now the man smiles and, all things considered, it’s not an unreasonable price. In fact, it may be too reasonable. As if he wanted to shift the android but without making it too obvious. “What’s the catch?” The man fidgets in his suit and seems unable to dissimulate. “Let’s just say that neither pet nor owner like being apart. Half of that and it’s all yours, right now.” It’s too good an offer to pass up and while doubts gather like storm clouds the seal is closed. “Good luck, you’ll need it.”
When something seems too good to be true it often is because it is. Getting the android into the lab was a simple matter of carrying the box with him inside. The problem started when it was activated. You can’t trust a crook but even someone like him wouldn’t lie with something like this. Who knows what sort of tampering went into its programming but the android, far from getting violent, started to dance and jump around at the mere sight of its surroundings. It seems like a good look at the programming is in order. Of course it’s always nice to be back at home but an android should know a bit of restraint.
