League of Legends: Attack Damage vs Attack Speed vs Critical Hits – StrategyZero

In the article ‘Attack Damage vs Attack Speed’ we examined the effect on average damage per second (ADPS) of increasing AD and AS. We left a question unaswered: what happens if we add critical hits?. The answer is in the tables and graph below.

A quick view at the tables indicates that the results seen without criticals repeat themselves as the probability increases. A graph of the tables’ data allows a clear view of the situation. In the graph, each spike corresponds to a different critical chance: 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 and 1.0; from left to right.

The graph shows that the conclusions we arrived at in the previous article are still valid. The fastest way of maximizing ADPS is by improving both AD and AS and the highest the ADPS the less benefit obtained. As far as ADPS is concerned, criticals work as a flat bonus to attack damage.
