Overview
Four bundles and a few extras appear along the release of the Dark Star skins. The Dark Star bundle may not offer much but what about the others? The extras consist of a trio of icons and a ward. Take into account that you can get the Oblivion Icon for 1500 RP until the 20th of June. So, what’s worth getting? Let’s take a look.
Dark Star Set
Discount: 25% for champions only
Total Price: 5063 RP
Price Without Champions: 3672 RP
Extras: Oblivion, Dark Star Thresh and Dark Star Varus icons plus Dark Star ward
For all intents and purposes this is a regular skin release bundle that instead of offering one champion along the new skin forces all of the Dark Star content together. Besides, the Dark Star skins there’s also three icons and a ward. If you own the champions and Oblivion icon the price is 3671 RP which means that the icons and wards can’t all be priced at just 1 RP each as indicated; the skins alone amount to 3170 RP. Therefore, if you want the skins right now and also like the icons and wards you get a bit of a discount on the ward. If not you are better off getting what you specifically like as there’s no real advantage to the bundle. Also, don’t forget early sales for which both skins are eligible; even the legendary.
False Reapers Set
Discount: 50%
Skins’ Price: 10158 -> 5079 RP
This bundle consists mostly of expensive skins that don’t do a proper effort for their price. Whether it’s a re-model at 975 RP like Grim Reaper Karthus or the skins at 1350 RP which offer just as much as skins at the 975 RP price point there isn’t anything impressive. That’s not to say that the skins are bad, it’s just that they don’t go an extra step to please. If you like the specific combination of skins it can be a bundle to consider. If not it’s better to get the specifics with regular sales.
Lost Souls
Discount: 50%
Skins’ Price: 8744 -> 4372 RP
Aside from the lone re-model at 975 RP that is Harbinger Kassadin this is a collection of skins that is quite satisfying; the legacy Underworld Twisted Fate should be noted. Even Harbinger Kassadin is quite an interesting re-model with its obvious H. R. Geiger influences; though at that price more is expected. In general, there isn’t anything bad about the bundle except that it asks for a particular combination of skins. If said combination is to your liking there’s much to like, if not then regular sales will deliver; eventually. With that in mind, next July will see the sale of Nightmare Tryndamere to half its price as announced.
Last Bastion
Discount: 50%
Skins’ Price: 9048 -> 4524 RP
In this bundle the meekest skins are the most interesting. Both Order of the Lotus Irelia and Warden Sivir are quite pleasing skins that do a lot within the limitations of their implementations. The others, in spite of having more resources at hand seldom live up to the expectations they set; even though they aren’t an utter letdown either. For the price they ask the remaining skins should’ve made more of an effort to impress. Regardless, if you like the whole set this isn’t a bad opportunity to get it. On the other hand, regular sales are the ideal way to get the particular skins you like. In that regard, next July will see Radiant Wukong discounted to 975 RP as announced.
Hate how they do bundle sales, I just wanted the thresh skin :#
Unfortunately, you’ll have to get the Dark Star Thresh on its own. We’d advise waiting until the early sale, in six months, and getting it for 1350 RP. Sales certainly help in the long run.
You seem to have mixed Vayne’s Arclight splash art with her classic one.
You’re right, thanks for the correction.
Actually, Radiant Wukong won’t be discounted to half its price. It’ll only drop to 975.
That’s right, Radiant Wukong is going on an early sale. We’ll amend the overview, thanks.
