Introduction: Alien High Seas
“It’s not exactly a star crew but you’ll find that they are more than capable of taking you where you want to go. I’ll make sure of that.” The Captain inspected the diverse band of potential passengers with her only good eye and a bit of a smirk. There was an unseen, shared shrug before they finally got into the old ship. It was a cranky, vintage vessel but it was a reliable companion and had never disappointed her when she needed it the most. With everyone aboard, the voyage started.
Everything was boring as usual, the gamblers argued over who was the most obvious cheater, the guards polished their armour and weapons and the neophytes emptied their stomachs at both port and starboard. The night slowly crept onto the sky but the tranquil waters were reassuring enough. The idea of some excitement was quickly discarded by the Captain but she knew that sooner or later trouble would arise. However, the presence at dawn of a roaring, armoured, humanoid feline in the middle of the quarter deck wasn’t exactly what she would’ve predicted.
Panic aside, the Captain had her swords on hand and a dagger between her teeth when the shadow stroke on deck. It lunged towards the cat-man and sent him reeling back. The impact even shook the ship a bit but the worst it did was shake some hammocks. She threw her dagger towards the shadow and jumped side by side with the blade but her attacks passed through the dark mist.
The cat was back on his paws and they both heard the deep voice: “Long have we waited. Fate cannot be averted.” The mist dispersed but the deck was carved with strange inscriptions. The rest of the trip went without incident but on arrival the Captain decided it was high time to look for answers. Something told the Captain that she wouldn’t like what she would have to hear.
