Conclusion:
The skins discounted this week are all references and while that can be a welcome feature they don’t always make most out of them. Let’s give them a look and see what they offer.
The Grim Reaper is hardly an original concept but it suits Karthus very well and feels like a very satisfying idea. The implementation isn’t without issues: like his fleshy hands and unrealistically small scythe. Regardless, there’s little like sowing souls with the personification of death itself.
Lord Mordekaiser attempts to coat the Master of Metal with a demonic veil. The notion of unleashing a hulking warrior wearing viciously designed heavy armour is certainly attractive. However, the execution doesn’t live up to such expectations. It’s a skin that seems ripe with potential but most of it is unexploited.
Nasus provides a more classic concept with his pharaonic style. Besides being fitting and having a distinct look the skin is rather convincing, even if inexact, about a Pharaoh’s aspect. Ultimately, Pharaoh Nasus is quite good looking and interesting so, considering its low price, it’s a great choice for fans of Egyptian history.

Conclusion:
The idea of avoiding a good amount of IP farming and furthering the completion of a champion roster is nice. Thus, taking Hecarim for a ride on the Fields of Justice wouldn’t be a bad idea at all. Fortunately, there are other reasons to do so: his skins haven’t been on sale since last year. Additionally, with Harrowing not too far away, it’s a good opportunity to be ready for Headless Hecarim.
Another possibility is to catch Orianna as she also would save a good amount of farming; provided you don’t usually gather much IP. Skins offer some additional motivation but Sewn Chaos and Gothic Orianna have already been on sale on 2013. Still, her Bladecraft look hasn’t been discounted so it’s a possibility worth waiting for.
Lastly, Sion’s low IP price doesn’t warrant a purchase. Warmonger and Barbarian Sion are the only skins that were discounted this year but the remaining Lumberjack one isn’t the most interesting either. By the look of things, it would be better to wait until his visual upgrade to make an optimal choice.
