Introduction: A Strange Arrival
“He doesn’t look very good.” The nurse left the patient in his room and addressed the officer. “He will be alright. There are many wounds and a deep stab but he’ll recover. You can wait for the doctor if you want.” “No time, tell me what you know.” “He arrived at the hospital dressed in medieval armour and profusely bleeding. Come, here are his belongings.” “I need to interrogate him.” “You’ll have to wait for the effects of the anaesthetic to pass. The surgery was successful but he’ll need time.”
The officer followed and then looked through the belongings. The plates of armour were heavy and seemed quite sturdy. The straps were made of leather and there was even a large sword to match. He was evidently a fan of faithful recreations. “Did he say anything when he arrived?” “Yes but it didn’t make any sense. He kept repeating that he needed to find the doll.” “How quaint.” Checking further into his belongings she found a scroll which looked a bit charred. She smelled: lemon; probably the old trick of writing with lemon juice. She signalled the nurse for extra light and she produced an incredibly strong torch from her pocket.
The scroll had a faint message: find the rag doll for chaos is within her heart.” Nurse and officer read and looked at each other. “This is rather strange or an elaborate prank.” “I can assure you the wound was certainly no joke, someone tried to kill him.” “I’ll need to take this to the lab; no, everything to the lab and I’ll have a constable guard the patient. There’s too much we don’t know about this.” “I’ll keep an eye on him.” The officer looked quizzically at the nurse. “I take my patients protection very seriously.” she said with a smirk.
