“It’s no common armour you see, it has runes on it.” “I’m more worried about the bear wearing it.” “Perhaps you shouldn’t have tried to steal…” It was not a pretty sight. They were thieves, inexperienced and clumsy so the Shaman had pity on them. He did give them a good shake, literally; he didn’t want to hurt them. He didn’t have to as the scare was big enough to make them run like never before. The bolt of lightning and thunder right behind them sealed the deal.
By the evening the Shaman was back in town and checking his belongings. Everything was there but in disarray. It took him a while to rearrange his things and so concentrated was he that he didn’t notice the uproar. Not until the pirate entered triumphantly in his room. With parrot on his shoulder and the two fools behind him, with stupid smiles on their faces, they stood before him. “It seems you don’t like sharing. I think we better talk about it for a bit.” The fools were thrown out through the windows like sacks of potatoes. The pirate was a nimbler opponent.
He drew his cutlass and his plates resisted but he didn’t have a weapon handy and lightning wasn’t at hand indoors. The blade went down on his armour and bounced off then suddenly was slashed in two by a rapier. The Shaman looked to his side: the Nightraven was there. All dressed in black, she sliced the right places so that the pirate escaped, barely, with his modesty. She simply smiled and disappeared as the evening was turning into night. It was just like her, to leave without saying goodbye. Next time he would put an anvil on her cape to see if she managed to stay in one place for a while. Something told him she would find a way around that too.
