Introduction: The Serum Call
The serum seems to bubble through the tubes. He looks at it and the liquid remains still as always but he feels something. It’s as if it has a mind of its own: one that is telling him to let go, to embrace the potency, to break the shackles of control and let it all out. He’s had rampages before and, fortunately, they were in the midst of battle where he became an essential asset in victory. There was no battle now, only the serum bubbling.
He started pacing, he had to do something. Perhaps it was time to decide who was in control: him or the liquid. He always suspected it would come to something like this. You can’t have something pumping through your veins and not become a part of you. So, a part of him was telling him to go all out but, against what? He needed a target, an objective, didn’t he? Perhaps that was the problem: he’s been idle for too long and he needed some action.
He went out and started training, it wasn’t the same as a proper battle but it was better than sitting all day. He felt the serum calling. It wasn’t yet in his system but he could feel it, a memory? He let go, he let the serum start pumping and his body lit, from the inside, with the power of the serum. The dummies were demolished with single hits, the floor destroyed with stomping feet, the walls exploded outwards and the roof crashed around him: he was free. The serum kept pumping and he kept moving, there were more buildings and the afternoon was still young.
