Introduction: The Most Powerful Weapon
“Hit and bash, repeat and then relax: your enemy’s down.” “Not that difficult, eh?” “Not at all, kid.” The Grandmaster walked before his apprentice and they entered the woods. It was the early afternoon and the sunrays spread through branches and leaves like arms reaching for the soil. “Don’t get distracted, we’re sure to find a good rival soon.” They heard something, some sort of scream, and a pounding on the ground. The beast fell right before them with a warrior on top with a wide smile. “Now what do we have here? More prey to hunt?”
The Apprentice shuddered and the Grandmaster took a step forward. The warriors looked at each other, analysing, predicting what would come out of battle. That was resolved soon enough. The Apprentice stared with wide open eyes and the Hunter knew how to make prey run; it was more fun that way. He ran and an axe flew in pursuit. The Grandmaster easily evaded the blade but the Apprentice didn’t have a chance. The axe got to his back and he fell, head first into the ground. The Grandmaster didn’t speak: he leapt.
He fell with his mace on the Hunter who deflected the blow to a side only to hear the thick skull of the beast crush and give in under the blow. He didn’t have time to react, another came and he lost his balance. The third sent him flying to the ground. The Grandmaster looked below for a second and jumped. The Hunter instinctively knew that he only had two options: flee or be crushed. The Grandmaster didn’t pursuit he knew where to find such people. He walked slowly to the Apprentice and found him sitting on the ground holding a thick book with an axe still lobbied on it. “You did say knowledge was the most powerful weapon, Master.” He nodded.
