Bundles: Definitely Not a Bundle, I Mustache You a Question, +5 AD Plz, Can’t Touch This, An OK and Draven Day Set

Overview
The most important day in the year is here: Draven Day. This means that we have the apparition of Meowkai, Urf Kench and Vel’Koz to herald the coming of a special guest: Draven Draven. Draven Draven is a legacy skin that will be available until the 11th of April and goes for the sum of 500 RP; the usual price is supposed to be 750 RP. On top of new skins there are various icons of which only the Draven Draven icon can be bought with IP; 1500 IP specifically.
There’s also an icon to unlock when gifting and another when taking part in Draven’s Legendary Spinning Axes. Just like in Snowdown, every Legendary and Ultimate skin grants a mystery skin that can produce a snowball of similar skins. As if that wasn’t enough there are six new bundles for those that prefer things collected in packages. Speaking of which, let’s check the bundles.
Definitely Not a Bundle
Discount: 50%
Total Skins’ Price: 4575 RP
Bundle Price: 2287.5 RP
The discount on this set of skins isn’t much of an incentive to attract attention. If there’s anything you like you’re better off waiting for a regular sale. Each skin has its charm but there’s nothing so irresistible that it’s impossible to wait. Even if you are really interested in some of the skins others come along with them. Therefore, unless you specifically want all the 2015 April Fool’s skins in one go, right now, it’s better to wait for sales.
I Mustache You a Question
Discount: 50%
Total Skins’ Price: 4570 RP
Bundle Price: 2285 RP
The unsurprising discount on this bundle isn’t enough to compensate for the compromises it asks for. Unless you like such an eclectic selection of skins you’ll find that not even the presence of a Harrowing legacy skin helps. There’s only one reason to get it: you like this specific set of skins. That means you can get Definitely Not Blitzcrank at half price too. That aside, there’s no real reason to pay for an arbitrary collection of skins if you only like a few. Better to choose what you like when a regular sale comes along.
+5 AD Plz
Discount: 50%
Total Skins’ Price: 5025 RP
Bundle Price: 2512.5 RP
Perhaps the name is an indication of what the skins can’t achieve. Unless you like all of this skins now there’s no reason to go for a pre-made set of skins. Sure, there’s Slayer Pantheon which is a legacy skin and at half price. Also, in general the skins are quite good and even if Demon Vi is too expensive the discount helps. Regardless, as soon as you find some skins you don’t like that much the discount loses significance. Thus, unless this exact set of skins appeals then wait for regular sales to get what you like, one by one.
Can’t Touch This
Discount: 5%
Total Skins’ Price: 5025 RP
Bundle Price: 2512.5 RP
The joke may be seen coming just like the discount though the former is preferable to the latter. What this bundle says is that you get a 50% discount if you get this combination of skins. Even if these skins fascinate you there’re much better ways of getting them and saving at the same time. Truth be told, there’s no advantage in getting this bundle when a regular sale doesn’t tie skins together and offers a much better discount. If you do like this specific selection then it’s a bundle for you but if you only like the best ones then it’s better to get them individually.
An OK
Discount: 50%
Total Skins’ Price: 5170 RP
Bundle Price: 2585 RP
With a rather unsurprising discount this is a bundle that doesn’t make much sense. The real star of the Rammus collection is Full Metal and even if you also like Guardian of the Sands there’s a lot of deadweight to drag. With such a compromise it isn’t justifiable that the discount isn’t any better than that of a regular sale. If you are a fan of Rammus, it’s better to wait for a regular sale and get the skins that you really like; chances are they won’t be many, from the look of his wardrobe.
Draven Day Set
Discount: 25%
Total Price: 5240 RP
Total Skins’ Price: 3600 RP
Bundle Price: 6955 RP
Other items: Meowcon, Urf Kench icon, Definitely Not a Vel’Koz icon, Draven Draven icon, Definitely Not a Ward
This bundle, more than an opportunity, is a convenience. You get everything that relates to Draven Day in one fell swoop. If you are interested only in the skins you’ll end up paying a fair bit more than the price of the skins alone because of the icons and ward. In theory, the bundle has a discount but only if you care for the extra content; all of it. If beside the skins the ward is the sole extra that seems appealing then the icons’ cost erases the discount. To be fair, it’s a bundle with a focused audience and certainly not for those that want to save RP with skins. If you do like to get everything, then this is it.

When will these skins be on discount? Are they legacy?
Only Draven Draven is a legacy skin and it’ll be leaving on the 11th of April. The others are regular skins and will eventually, in quite a few months, go on sale. When exactly we can’t tell but it’ll take a while as they’ve just been released.
I am pretty sure all the discounts are 50%, the price include champion price too, not just skin price. I don’t think Riot would be that stingy with their bundles, especially for an event like Draven Day
As the information is so minimal on the Draven Day announcement we worked with what we could gather from it all. It’s possible that you’re right but as the bundles aren’t that interesting to start with we didn’t delve deeper into the details. Riot should definitely present the bundles with more information to make the purchases more attractive.
Concerning the Draven Day Set, the discount is actually 25% off. The listed price (6955) includes champion RP prices at a discount. If you took the time to do the math, you’ll find that everything except Draven Draven is 25% off its original price. During the discount calculation, Draven Draven’s price is 975, which is discounted to 731 (but the full price lists it as 5000). Do please check, because 0% discount is quite misleading. I also think this is the case with the other bundles, where the RP price listed includes the champions.
To be fair, it would be best to check at the store for each person regarding what they own. We don’t find the bundles interesting and we decided to work with what we could gather from the simple announcement. You may be right and if we have time we’ll do the math again but we also have other things to devote time to like reviews and the splash art update.
Fair enough. I will agree that none of the bundles are particularly exciting. I went ahead and did the math before my first comment, just to verify that I was correct. My friend only owns Vel’Koz and his listed bundle price is 6224. 6955 – 6224 = 731, and 731 is 75% of 975, which is Vel’koz’s RP price.
Riot likes to discount each item independently, then round to the nearest whole number.
Draven, Tahm Kench, Vel’Koz: 975 x .75 = 731.25 -> 731 per champiob
Maokak: 880 x .75 = 660
Meowkai: 1350 x .75 = 1012.5 -> 1013
Urf Kench and Definitely Not Vel’Koz: 750 x .75 = 562.5 -> 563
Each Icon: 250 x .75 = 187.5 -> 188 per icon -> 752 for all icons
Ward: 640 x .75 = 480
Draven Draven: 5000 -> 975 x .75 = 731.25 -> 731
Add everything up, it’s 6955.
Very eloquent, we’ll update the overview; thanks.
Just checked the math for all the other bundles, and they’re all at 50% off including the champion price. Maybe now you’ll change your mind about the worth of the bundles 🙂 (Or maybe not, lol)
Not really but at least instead of being ridiculous they are passable.
