Period: 14th to 17th of June, 2013
Skins: Mercenary Katarina, Waterloo Miss Fortune and Rageborn Mundo
Champions: Shaco, Singed and Diana
This sale has some high and low points plus something in between. The most awaited skin could be Rageborn Mundo with its distinct red orc aesthetic. The model is quite polished and is a rather clear representation of an orc. A couple of animations are added and while they are nice they aren’t impressive either. In the end, it’s a nice skin for Mundo fans or those that would like chop enemies like an orc.
Waterloo Miss Fortune stands in middle ground. The look offered is characteristic of a 19th century French soldier with a good deal of stylization. Still, the concept doesn’t mesh that well with her bounty hunter buccaneer theme. Add to this that the concept is superficially elaborated and we find a product that doesn’t offer much but at least doesn’t ask for much either.
In the case of Mercenary Katarina, it’s a clear tribute to her original pink-haired appearance. While the bright colours are distinct they aren’t the best match for a blade-wielding assassin. Those nostalgic about Katarina’s past or with a liking for fantastic aesthetics might find something to like. Still, the skin doesn’t offer much besides some new colours.
This weekend, the Moon not only controls the tides but also IP farming as her avatar graces the realm of champion sales. Diana provides not only a good dose of Moon iconography but also a nice alternative to ploughing the fields for IP.
In the case of skins, Dark Valkyrie Diana isn’t fantastic looking yet is her only choice. It was previously discounted by the end of last year. Although it could go on sale soon, it’ll probably take a while due to the amount of eligible skins and brief sales.
Finally, neither Shaco nor Singed make for good purchases considering their low IP prices. Both Jester and Chemist have numerous skins and some are quite good. Therefore, RP is better reserved for their skins while IP is better relied upon to unlock this mad duo.
