League of Legends: Cho’Gath Skins’ Review – StrategyZero
Sep 062012

Cho'Gath, the Terror of the Void
Cho’Gath, the Terror of the Void

Cho’Gath, the Terror of the Void is an easily recognizable monster due to his tendency to eat the opposition and grow larger every time he does so. His skins sometimes reinforce his nature and other times reinterpret it. Read further on his skins’ review and find out which version of Cho’Gath looks deadlier.

Nightmare Cho’Gath
Nightmare Cho'Gath Splash Art Nightmare Cho'Gath Model
Category: Legacy
Price: 520 RP
Concept: Cho’Gath as a dark blue Terror of the Void.
Model: New textures for Cho’Gath.
Particles: No new particles.
Animations: No new animations.
Sounds: No new sounds.
Splash Art: This piece is strictly a re-coloured version of Cho’Gath’s classic splash art. If at least the piece were good it would be acceptable but it barely serves as a portrayal. The proportions and contorted pose of Cho’Gath don’t make for a good depiction and the background is just a few strokes of grey behind him. Considering that Nightmare Cho’Gath is a legacy skin a new splash may be low on the list of priorities. Still, it stands as one of League of Legends worst splash arts.
Rating: Star clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZero
Conclusion: Nightmare Cho’Gath is a re-texture of the Terror of the Void but not one that improves his looks or provides another aesthetic for him. The blue textures are simple, too bright and flat: Cho’Gath’s body ends up homogenized and every part looks almost the same. It could be said that it’s a skin that worsens Cho’Gath aspect. As a legacy skin it’s, thankfully, no longer available though it may return someday; so be ready to ignore it when that happens.

Gentleman Cho’Gath
Gentleman Cho'Gath Splash Art Gentleman Cho'Gath Model
Category: Legendary
Price: 1820 RP
Concept: Cho’Gath dressed and mannered as a gentleman.
Model: Moderate model changes for Cho’Gath.
Particles: No new particles.
Animations: No new animations.
Sounds: New quotes for all his actions.
Splash Art: In theory, this piece offers a good look at Cho’Gath and his environment of choice, in his dignified form. The problem is that the abrupt perspective doesn’t allow the elements that make up the background to define a complete setting. A fireplace, a portrait, a printed carpet, a side table holding spirits and a comfortable armchair are all items that fit the concept. However, their presence is either suggested or flat-out sketchy. None of these items attracts with their display as they should. That also extends to Cho’Gath with a portrayal that does have clearer colours but also a waxy feel that isn’t helped by the uneven lines. Regrettably, the overall quality of the drawing doesn’t do justice to the ideas behind it. The technique used lacks precision and clarity. In addition to this, the restricted colour palette consists mostly of brown shades which further flatten the depiction. In conclusion, it’s a piece with a good setup but neither composition nor technique let it excel.
Rating: Star clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZero
Conclusion: There’s something to be said when a huge monstrosity is more effective as a joke than as a source of fear. Philosophical implications aside, Gentleman Cho’Gath delivers exactly what it promises: a monster made to fit in a suit and top hat. The looks are hardly impressive: one can only wonder how the glass and pipe survive in his claws and why the clothes grow with him; but magic is always the answer. Actually, Gentleman Cho’Gath is a skin about proper behaviour and demeanour in a battlefield; which is what the other half of the skin does. The voice over is what really makes the skin stand out and makes the preposterous concept work. The problem is that it’s all a joke and jokes wear stale with repetition. In the end, Gentleman Cho’Gath is a nice skin, but its concept doesn’t let it do or attain more.

Loch Ness Cho’Gath
Loch Ness Cho'Gath Splash Art Loch Ness Cho'Gath Model
Category: Regular
Price: 520 RP
Concept: Cho’Gath as a an aquatic monster.
Model: New model for Cho’Gath.
Particles: No new particles.
Animations: No new animations.
Sounds: No new sounds.
Splash Art: This is an appropriate piece to get away with a muddy and dark background; which is exactly what happens here. That doesn’t mean that a more interesting background wouldn’t be an improvement. The background used is just filler as only a few shapes and colours are discernible. Conversely, Cho’Gath is depicted with ample use of details: his body is complex and sinuous and even bubbles come out of his maw. On top of that the lighting and colouring is quite good. Loch Ness Cho’Gath is just another piece victim of a bland background. While the representation of Cho’Gath isn’t awesome a better background would’ve made for a better splash art.
Rating: Star clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZero
Conclusion: Loch Ness Cho’Gath offers one of the most impressive models available in League of Legends. The mixture of terrestrial and aquatic features is very well done generating an aberrant amphibious. The texture work is equally good: the different parts of the body are easily discernible and their colours speak about their function and lethality; like that of the fins, flesh, claws and teeth. It’s a real pity that the particles for Rupture and Vorpal Spikes weren’t modified to provide consistency as this is a great skin. If Classic Cho’Gath isn’t monstrous enough for you then Loch Ness Cho’Gath will deliver.

Jurassic Cho’Gath
Jurassic Cho'Gath Splash Art Jurassic Cho'Gath Model
Category: Regular
Price: 975 RP
Concept: Cho’Gath as a skeleton from a museum exhibition.
Model: New model for Cho’Gath.
Particles: New particles for his laugh, Rupture and Vorpal Spikes.
Animations: New animations for his taunt and death.
Sounds: No new sounds.
Splash Art: Let yordles and humans flee for their lives as Cho’Gath rules again; as a structure of nailed bones. The concept is definitely fantastic but considering the size of the bones the terror is justified. What isn’t is the darkness of the corridors despite the multiple windows and candles. That the light reflects off Cho’Gath’s bones and platform but doesn’t reach the corridors is something that physics may not be able to explain. However, that so much can be explained about the setting speaks of a background that isn’t perfect but is full of elements to frame the action. If we add that Cho’Gath is nicely portrayed, even though his body seems to be collapsing, we can affirm that this is a very good splash art.
Rating: Star clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZero
Conclusion: Jurassic Cho’Gath is a skin that has two contradictory ideas working together. On the one hand, what could be more fearsome than a deadly monster that has attained un-dead life? On the other hand, regardless of how huge Cho’Gath gets he still is a sack of bones instead of a massive embodiment of destruction. The bones are nicely shaped, show cracks and dents plus convincing consistency despite the whimsical structure. However, they lack the necessary bulk to make the size of Cho’Gath relevant. Even if Cho’Gath gets big, most of him is empty space. Furthermore, Cho’Gath as an animated skeleton makes Feast rather pointless. That’s not to say that a gigantic monster skeleton isn’t attractive but for a monster based on devouring enemies and growing in size it means that a compromise has to be made. Therefore, Jurassic Cho’Gath is a great skin that does very well what it sets out to do. If you are willing to accept its idiosyncrasies then you’ll enjoy it a great deal.

Battlecast Prime Cho’Gath
Battlecast Prime Cho'Gath Splash Art Battlecast Prime Cho'Gath Model
Category: Legendary
Price: 1820 RP
Concept: Cho’Gath as a giant robot or mech.
Model: New model for Cho’Gath and engine glow when growing in size.
Particles: New particles for his joke, Carnivore, Rupture, Feral Scream and Vorpal Spikes.
Animations: New animation for his auto-attack, critical hits, Rupture, Feral Scream, Vorpal Spikes, emotes, recall and death.
Sounds: New sounds for his abilities, joke and dance. New voice over and quotes when starting a match, using abilities, reaching certain levels, acquiring Feast stacks and recalling.
Splash Art: Battlecast Prime Cho’Gath’s splash art is direct and effective: it depicts Cho’Gath causing devastation along with some Battlecast friends. Buildings crumble engulfed in flames, people run in panic and the sound waves emanating from the gigantic mech cloud the vision. Indeed, they cloud the vision a little too much and the flames cover the rest of the background; so as to make it simpler. Still the focus is on Cho’Gath and he looks very good, despite showing a fragmented body a bit devoid of proper innards. Besides, the maw would’ve benefitted from a few extras to make it look deadlier. On the whole, this piece gives a very good first impression but a closer look reveals a few flaws that are difficult to ignore.
Rating: Star clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZero
Conclusion: Battlecast Prime Cho’Gath effectively changes the concept of a monster growing into an unstoppable force of destruction into a self-improving machine of devastation. The model in tandem with the particles, sounds and animations make a reasonably cohesive package that does away with the organic traits and leaves only technology behind. That being the case, why does a mech eat organic life? Assimilate and grow may be the answer but the way he does it still resembles a monster chewing instead of a robot processing. Maybe Devastator’s Vortex Grinder would’ve been a better example to follow for Feast. Additionally, the dance is supposed to loop with fluidity but it’s easy to distinguish the start and end of both animation and music. In spite of these flaws, Battlecast Prime Cho’Gath is a very good skin that is worthy of the legendary label. If you are a fan of giant robots or prefer a sci-fi air in your champions then this is a skin to consider.

Prehistoric Cho’Gath
Prehistoric Cho'Gath Splash Art Prehistoric Cho'Gath Model
Category: Regular
Price: 750 RP
Concept: Cho’Gath as a monstrous Tyrannosaurus rex in armour.
Model: New model for Cho’Gath.
Particles: New particles for Rupture and Vorpal Spikes.
Animations: No new animations.
Sounds: No new sounds.
Splash Art: With only a yellow sky for background it’s the job of the dinosaurs to fill all the available space. There is a shaman and another person nearby but aside from making a small tribute to Primal Rage they add little. In spite of the three champions sharing the spotlight their interaction isn’t clear. Renekton and Cho’Gath battle each other as predators could reasonably do but then Anivia appears on the side freezing the land and Renekton’s leg. Adding the armour that they wear they seem like staging a fight for supremacy as if they were to become rulers of the Earth. It could be another reference to Primal Rage or the lack of context simply allows for as many wild guesses as one can venture.
What is evident is that the portrayals are an uneven affair: the three dinosaurs only have a clear upper body while the rest melts in a fog that merely fills space. When the depictions are clear they are vivid and detailed. They draw interest and make even the preposterous struggle of monster Tyrannosaurus, humanoid Dimetrodon and ice Pteranodon attractive. However, the intense blur doesn’t really convey their scale it instead diminishes the power of the portrayals by hiding more of what makes the dinosaurs interesting: their physiques.
Therefore, this is a splash art that sets up a nice scene but doesn’t exploit all the advantages that a fight of three dinosaurs has. There’s a lack of context and even if we just focus on the fight the characters aren’t fully depicted making the most of their primal designs.
Rating: Star clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZero
Conclusion: In general lines, the physiognomy of the much admired Tyrannousaurus rex is identifiable when looking at Prehistoric Cho’Gath. However, compromises are necessary to accommodate the classic hexaped structure of Cho’Gath. This means that we have two extra appendages that function as extra forelimbs with a single claw. To call this addition absurd is to put it mildly, but it’s a necessary one. Such forelimbs could’ve been interpreted in other ways, perhaps as artificial additions like the armour, so as to make a terrifying predator even more deadly; because enough is not always enough. The addition of ostheoderms and a horn pale in comparison to the extra forelimbs but they don’t make sense either. The teeth are also of the fictionalized kind: in fact, the original T. rex jaw is more eloquent than this cartoony dentures.
In the end, we are left with a body that, even if a bit too hunched, resembles a Tyrannosaurus rex rather well. The armour and bracelets may imply a certain degree of intelligence though a fully feral T. rex is a more traditional option. It’s not something specifically bad but it seems whimsical or unnecessary. The superior forelimbs, though, they don’t cast much of a shadow of a doubt: they are an evident refuse from classic Cho’Gath. At least some abilities are modified to keep the style consistent; even if they appear simplistic.
All things considered, Prehistoric Cho’Gath is a fantastic interpretation of a Tyrannosaurus rex. It equates more to a monstrous dinosaur with a T. rex as its base. It’s a fine skin that fans of monsters will probably enjoy but fans of dinosaurs will cringe at the concessions made.

Dark Star Cho’Gath
Dark Star Cho'Gath Splash Art Dark Star Cho'Gath Model
Category: Promotional (forge 10 gemstones or reroll skin shards and permanents in Hextech Crafting)
Price: 1350 RP (13th of July to 10th of August, 2018 only)
Concept: Cho’Gath as a devourer of worlds.
Model: New model for Cho’Gath, new animated glow and textures for his body plus minor model changes at four and eight Feast stacks.
Particles: New particles for his abilities, auto-attack, joke and recall.
Animations: New joke and recall animation plus adapted walking and Feast animation.
Sounds: New sounds for his abilities, auto-attack and recall plus processed voice-over.
Splash Art: There isn’t much background to speak of. It can be summed up with a couple words: stylised space. There are stars, gas clouds and some meteorites but that’s it. The setting is clear enough and fitting for a giant, cosmic monster bent on devouring everything it finds but there’s more to say about Cho’Gath than the backdrop.
Cho’Gath, as cosmic devourer, look like a force of destruction that absorbs everything into his insatiable black hole; one that appears rather simple and dull. The energy and head are rather sharp but the problem is that the rest of the body is also dull and diffuse. Colours, all a subdued blue, don’t help and if we add that only part of the large frame that is Cho’Gath’s body is visible we find a depiction that doesn’t communicate his massive size well; a very relevant part. In fact, the slender body and thin limbs remind of Kha’Zix and his agility instead of the powerful weight proper of Cho’Gath.
The result is a splash art that has potential but ends up squandering it with a disappointing representation of Cho’Gath. His main features aren’t captured and the portrayal feels sketchy. Overall, a letdown with no excuse.
Rating: Star clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZeroStar clip art used in skin reviews at StrategyZero
Conclusion: The Terror of the Void becomes a much more eloquent horror in Dark Star Cho’Gath. With a reptilian body of gelatinous consistency which glows with the energy of a black hole there’s little doubt that we have before us an interstellar monster. The general lines of Cho’Gath are noticeable but changed so that he’s a bipedal creature with an impractically horned helmet that functions as a weapon. In a more traditional champion this would be preposterous but in this case it adds to the otherworldly feel. As more Feast stacks are acquired Cho’Gath changes with more evident osteoderms, a larger tail as well as more ornamented helmet and body. The changes keep the feel but add an unexpected regal touch due to all the gold visible; regal in an alien way so it suits the theme.
Particles don’t disappoint but they don’t surprise either. The changes revolve mainly on the use of holes on the fabric of space which then give way to more familiar even if redesigned effects. Truth be told, the redesign respects the classic feel but adds a more alien and stellar feel. Whether it’s curved claws, star dust, meteorites or colourful gaseous clouds the space feel is clear even if familiar. The new glow for Vorpal Spikes is more functional than interesting but at any rate it fits the skin. Overall, the style of the particles is appealing but it covers all the expected elements so that, while nice looking, they don’t feel novel.
Sounds are subtle, surprisingly so. The classic base seems to be kept but modified by the addition of cosmic dust or otherworldly tones. The most salient abilities in this regard are Vorpal Spikes’ attacks and Feast which mostly leave behind the classic sounds. Other abilities and normal auto-attacks stay a bit too close to the classic sounds for their own good: the stellar theme isn’t strong enough in them.
The new recall sees Cho’Gath literally open a hole in space and leave through it. Considering how such a skill is a major theme of the skin it’s a good choice. It may not be groundbreaking but it’s effective. It still could’ve been done in a way different from the usual feral monster of uncontainable power. Still, what’s done fits in with the theme. The new joke is less effective but it’s something different. The new walk is adapted to the model but the classic Cho’Gath sway is noticeable. Feast is a simplified version with Cho’Gath merely biting forward. It may fit better but perhaps something more interesting would’ve helped the theme.
All added together, Dark Star Cho’Gath is a somewhat uneven skin. In all areas there’s a sense of familiarity from using the same approach on a known theme. That doesn’t ruin the appeal of the skin yet it also doesn’t add to the originality of it. The respect for the classic design restrains the theme in several facets so that, unlike the model, fails to feel innovative. Nevertheless, this is a skin with an attractive theme and execution so Dark Star Cho’Gath is a rather nice and interesting alternative for the Terror of the Void. If bought with RP during the initial sale then donating to charity is icing on the cake. If a prize of hextech crafting then it’s certainly a good option but perhaps not worth all the trouble it could entail.

Conclusion

For the most part Cho’Gath skins have good quality but some stand out. Prehistoric and Loch Ness Cho’Gath are the recommended purchases. The former is based on the iconic T. rex; which is a great base to stand on. It’s only a model change but one that is quite appealing. The second improves every aspect of his being with a suitable aquatic feel. It’s a different, monstrous take that keep the classic appeal with a different approach.

Also worth considering is Jurassic Cho’Gath. The concept challenges part of his nature but also delivers an attractive look. What sets the skin apart may also ask impractical questions but with some extra suspension of disbelief it becomes a good option.

If you want to spend more, Battlecast Prime Cho’Gath is worth the RP thanks to its cohesive mechanical take on the Terror of the Void. From creature to machine but always monstrous Cho’Gath remains as unstoppable as ever but with a different base behind its horror.

Optionally, if you prefer something funny Gentleman Cho’Gath is a fitting alternative. However, a legendary skin’s price may be too much if you are not a devoted Cho’Gath fan or expect a perfect product.

The stellar angle of Dark Star Cho’Gath is interesting and the execution doesn’t falter. The skin is uneven and relies too much on classic designs but the result communicates its theme well. The model stands out with its different take as well as visual features. It may not be something worth going out of one’s way for but it’s certainly a good option.

  1. Could u do a Skin Review for Xerath and Malphite please?
They both have amazing skins i do not know what to buy because every skin looks amazing

  2. Do Vladimir too

  3. Hey, whenever i buy a skin, i always take your opinion, and i would like to do so again.

Which skin do you recommend for Dr Mundo?

Even if you don’t review him, could u please advise me? Thanks ^^!

    • Executioner Mundo looks interesting while Rageborn Mundo is the most recent and refined. Either concept seems appropriate and the executions aren’t bad.

Still, as always, there’s nothing better than choosing a skin that you like for a champion that you enjoy. In that case you won’t go wrong with your purchase.

  4. Hey, I noticed a while a go that Gentleman Cho’gath was 2 stars.
Why is it 3 stars now?

    • Good question, also have the idea that it had only a couple of stars in the past. For the time being we’ll move it back to two stars. The skin definitely has a good voice-over but the joke wears thin after a while and the looks, while sensible, hardly astound.

  5. could you confirm for me whether battlecast prime cho’gath’s feral scream is a light blueish colour like in the images provided on this page? because from a skin spotlight i saw on this skin, the feral scream was not coloured blue (a colourless colour)
    Thanks!

also, could you confirm whether or not battlecast prime chogath is slightly smaller than classic chogath at full stacks… i have heard that this is the case….

    • Battlecast Prime Cho’Gath’s Feral Scream seems to have bluish waves and greyish circular ripples. In fact, it’s two parts of the whole Feral Scream effect with different colours.

As far as size goes, if there is a difference it shouldn’t be significant but we don’t really know. Besides, the smaller Cho’Gath has an advantage as it would be a smaller target. Remember the Captain’s words: size doesn’t mean everything.

  6. hey thanks for your response…. i prefer my cho’gath to be as big as possible as it is just so fun tanking turrets while being HUGE! xD

  7. So i just bought battlecast prime chogath and according to ur review, the should be new quotes for levelling and aquiring feast stacks but how come in game, when i level or acquire a feast stake, i dont notice any new quotes mentioned?

    Thanks!

    • There should be new sounds but there could be a bug that is preventing them from sounding. You can check the sounds not only in the many video spotlights available in Youtube but also in the official video announcement. Take in consideration that the levelling quotes are only for levels 6, 11, 15 and 18; according to the LoL Wiki.

For example, a similar bug happened with some quotes of Pulsefire Ezreal. You could report the bug in the bug or sound feedback League of Legends sub-forums but you’ll have to be patient if it’s a bug; though a legendary skin may be fixed sooner than regular ones.

  8. Ok thanks for the response! Will try to notice them again in a game to make sure that i did not accidentally miss them. 🙂

  9. hey zero,

just noticed that battlecast prime cho’gath seems to have a different wallking animation? could you confirm this?

    thanks!

  10. Jurassic Cho has a new dance animation.

  11. For Jurassic Cho, the description of the model is listed as “New model Cho’Gath”.
    I think you a verb.

  12. Machinedramon… Is you?

  13. What do you think of the new texture re-balances?

    • While the changes are nothing out of the ordinary they help bring the visuals closer to the current level. It’s all superficial but it’s better than nothing.

  14. Battlecast Prime Cho’Gath actually has new particles for his joke, not his taunt. Also, there is unmentioned new sound and animation for his joke. Additionally, if you will specifically mention the new quotes relating to Feast, then you should also mention the quotes for his recall, Vorpal Spikes, etc.

    • We certainly should. Legendary and ultimate skins are always difficult to pinpoint all changes as they tend to have a lot. Sadly that doesn’t always amount to a well recreated theme. Thanks for the notice we’ll update the review.

  15. Hey just to telll you im a huge fan of ur work and wanted to say ty for all the stuff u do.I always use ur site to determine the worth of skins and ur site helps me dtermine skin purchases. If i could ask what in your opinion is the rarity of zombie ryze, got him today and not sure how good!

    • Thanks for the kind words.

Zombie Ryze is a legacy skin tied to Harrowing so it’s not as rare as it could possibly be but outside of Harrowing it’s very unusual to be able to get the skin. The thing with rarity is that it’s very difficult to determine as skins can become available or be put on sale at Riot’s discretion despite their status; Challenger Ahri being a recent example. For now Zombie Ryze is a reasonable legacy skin linked to an event but the future is a mystery.

  16. I think Nightmare Cho looks different since Cho’Gath has been retextured.
Please could you give Nightmare Cho’Gath a glance and let me know if you think he looks different?

Thank you for all the effort and time that you take when writing your reviews.
I am a big fan of your site 🙂

    • Not at all, glad that you like the reviews.

From the look of things, Nightmare Cho’Gath’s image is up to date and shows what you get with the skin. We have to admit that we still see the skin as flatter than classic. You can compare them in LolKing’s model viewer: Classic and Nightmare Cho’Gath. It may be a cheap skin but it’s also an example of a skin that gives too little. It just doesn’t seem like a good alternative to classic, especially with much better alternatives at the same price.

  17. Laughed so hard at Nightmare (and Jurassic) Cho’Gath’s description.

    You guys are the best.

May I point out that in Prehistoric Cho’Gath’s review it is mentioned as “Prehisotric Cho’Gath”?

Looking forward to Gentleman Cho’Gath splash review update, since the clarity of the chinese one is greatly improved. Or better yet, maybe the current NA splash is a copy of the chinese one, thus the good concept and composition but the bad technique?

    • We try to be as descriptive as possible but we also try to make them appealing. We probably don’t always hit the mark but that’s were we aim at.

Thanks for the correction; we’ll fix it right away.

The Chinese splash arts aren’t always an improvement and sometimes the rough, old fashioned style can suit the skin’s theme better than a sharp but inexact representation; Gentleman could be such a case. We understand the need of a certain degree of artistic freedom provided it enhances the portryal. Sadly, that’s not always the case and the splash art many times ends up not being faithful to the three-dimensional representation. Sometimes it doesn’t even show properly what the skin is about.

  18. Loch ness cho gath just looks super awesome

    • It’s one of the best re-models available. It suits Cho’Gath and has a reasonable price. Loch Ness remains one of his best skins.

  19. Though peeps seem to hate nightmare cho, I love it.

    • It’s a simplisitc change of colour but that doesn’t mean that you can’t like it. It’s just that Nightmare Cho’Gath offers so little that, at least, the price should be lower.

  20. Ya know, funnily enough as A lover of dinosaurs, monsters and voracious beasts I find the prehistoric Cho’Gath to be by far my favourite skin (I do own the gentleman skin, and it’s very piss-takey of Britishness which as a Brit I do like – but…..What what what?…gets on the nerves way too fast.)

Also, I’ll agree to disagree with you over lochness Cho’Gath – I don’t think it’s as aesthetically pleasing as prehistoric or battlecast.

    • We agree that Prehistoric Cho’Gath is a very appealing skin. Gentleman has but mostly had its moment because by now only the processed voice-over really stands out; and only to a point give how many quotes recent ones have. In few words, it’s starting to feel its age as a legendary skin.

We’ll sort of agree with respect to Loch Ness Cho’Gath. It’s probably not as pleasing as the other skins but as a re-model we find it’s quite good. There’s a degree of personal preference as the other skins are also more elaborate besides having less horror based concepts. Still, it’s not a bad skin.

  21. I love nightmare cho’gath. its so, so terrible splash art is worth it. the first time i saw someone with it i got very confused. its so terrible, that i think its funny again. like, now its not a real skin, but a “remember how bad cho’gaths splash use to look? well you can keep using that terrible splash!!!”

and by the way, your skin reviews are pretty great and well written. keep up the good work!!!

    • Thanks for the kind words, glad that you like the reviews.

If we recall correctly, Nightmare Cho’Gath reflects his original look or a potential look he was intended to have. It’s a bad skin but if taken for its unique characteristics it can be of some interest. We have to admit that the appeal is quite restricted and there’s a lot that can be done that the skin simply neglects. However, we agree, as a nostalgic look at the beginnings of LoL it does have something to show.

  22. Hello. Just curious, how long does it normally take for you to write a review for a new skin? Waiting to hear your thoughts about Dark Star Cho’Gath.

  23. Dark Star Cho also has a new walking, ult and joke animation.

  24. You forgot to mention that Dark Star Cho’Gath also has a new joke where he high fives a weird floating hand thing.

    Just a heads up.

  25. I believe that you can only attain Dark Star Cho’Gath during its promotional dates. You cannot get it by forging 10 gems.

    • That was what was written in the release announcement: it’ll return as a craftable skin. We really can’t say much more as we are unable to find anything different when searching from what was stated. Perhaps the skin isn’t available yet to be crafted but will be in the future. The announcement suggested something of the kind.

  26. Loch Ness Cho’Gath now has blue particles on his Q,E,and R.

    • The change is so subtle we can barely see a difference and only in Rupture. We also notice that Jurassic Cho’Gath doesn’t have bone particles in Vorpal Spikes. Not surprising as upgrades tend to remove features from skins.
